Lora how frustrating for you, I would not hesitate to switch doctors 100 times if that is what takes to get rid of your pain.  How awful they won't help you.  So sorry you are suffering,  I hope you get some relief.

Your RNY surgeon has absolutely no bedside manner and your faith in her is both misguided and undeserved.  Please, Lora, move on... get the help you need AND deserve.  You are not getting that where you are...

I had already resigned myself to no help from her, but am very disappointed that Dr Mxxx backed out of HIS OWN plan to try to help me find the problem.

I hope Maguire is not planning to retire immediately since going to the other south-of-town WLS docs turned out not to be an option (but don't know if Teel will take me without me jumping through hoops). Will go over to their office tomorrow to fiill out the records release.

Is Maguire moving??  What is up with that?  He is retiring?  I have not heard that.....

The rumor is that he's retiring, but I did not hear any kind of timeframe (could be 2 weeks, could be 2 years!)... or might not be true at all.

 Lora:

When I had my surgery 5.5 years ago, I literally was the last patient that my surgeon worked on, then he retired.  I had driven 5 hours away from home for surgery and the only after care given was a 3 month check up.  After that I was basically on my own.  If it had not been for this board, I would not be able to tell my PCP what tests to run and what to look for in other things.  I have been blessed that the only problem I've had to deal with is a incisional hernia at 2.5 years out.  When I listen to what you have gone through and the problems you have with finding a surgeon to help you, it scares me to think if I find myself in a similar boat that I will not have anyone to help me.  I hope that your search ends soon and that you will find a surgeon who both with care and find out what is causing you this pain and give you the relief that you so deserve.

((( HUGS )))  Hope you find the help and the answer.

And as a reminder - I was dealing with pain, on and off for 8-10 months. Numerous C-scans didn't show anything abnormal. Everything was "fine". Yet my doc insisted on surgery. He found hernia (second. one was fixed a year earlier) and twisted bowels which cased pain.
Now - my insides may be more sensitive (than before RNY) and there may be some discomfort if - when I eat too much or have too much gas - but that does not even compare with anything I felt before my last surgery.  Now - I can believe I am dealing with some adhesions, etc.. but before that - the pain could be so bad, that would send me to the floor crying.

Primum non nocere is also a part of the oath and unfortunately society today has caused medicine to often think first about the possibility of litigation.

Good luck with switching surgeons. I think it is probably the best option.
