I agree.  And maybe that's just one more negative aspect of communicating solely through writing.  There is really no standard meaning of putting a word in all caps.  Like, if I put a question mark after something, everyone knows I'm asking a question.  But we might have different ideas about what all caps mean (or italics or bold print or whatever).

It's the hormones, "Dr." Lora!  The Hormones!  They make every little comment someone says come across as snotty!  :)

I agree sometimes people are pretty damn rude on here...however I dont think its intentional and its not often. It is very hard to gage what people are saying on the interent when you dont have body language or tone of voice...but still sometimes people odnt even TRY to come across nice and the person reading the posts gets offended. Ive posted about this before, and Ive had rude things said to me. Ive learned to bru**** off and go to the next post lol. There are going to be ******** in this world...period. Im a bill collector...I talk to ******** all day long lmao. Now ive not read any of your posts so I dont know what specifically was said. Im sorry you were offended by someone but honestly this site has so much GOOD to it, im willing to overlook a few ******** for the wealth of support and knowledge I get here...you should too :)

Thanks newtintin...I couldn't handle being a bill collector! I commend you for that! Not an easy job! LOL...I do understand that maybe some people don't realize that they are coming off as rude, that's why I wanted to address it. And I got jumped all over for it! My simple point was that this forum is to help people...not to backhand them for not knowing something that they are new to. & I think that the people who got the most heated about this topic, are the ones themselves who do that very thing. They may have good knowledge from their experiences & think they know everything about RNY but I would much rather get info and advice from someone who knows how to speak to people. With that said I can't stand much more of this today! I would hope that I got my point across & that people can understand where I am coming from. If you don't like what I have said simply block me (like others have done today) LOL...Like I'm some scary person! I'm far more pleasant than what I have seen of people today! There is a HUGE difference between being a blunt and honest person, and being a nasty, ill-tempered, name-calling person.  You have proven in this thread, that you are the latter.  As a newbie, I don't need you spewing forth your venomous tirades on behalf  the "newbies".  Besides, the ladies that you allude to are the most helpful on this site.  Without them, many people would be lost looking for assistance through this journey.

 I'm sorry Jim, but I respectfully disagree.  After reading this thread, there is no name calling, real nastiness by anyone or anyone spewing venomus tirades.  Just a discusssion that can get heated, but all the posters are pretty much handling it well.  

Its difficult to read emotions/feelings in a post.  Where some may see it as blunt others may see it as being rude.  From what I read on the RNY boards, mainly been pretty tame especially compared to other forums on here.  I believe everyone, both newbies and vets, can attribute to all the postings on here.  

Now, I have seen a lot disagreement coming from that our doctor's plans on eating, restrictions, info, etc all vary so much.  So while one gets told one thing, another gets told the opposite.  Not sure why there should be such a difference, because we all had the same surgery. 

To the OP, I hope you stay around, I enjoy hearing from all of you. 

Calling people stupid for blocking, *****es, and taking shots at people's ages seems pretty venomous to me.  What about when she basically insulted everybody's intelligence by saying that she knew more about anatomy and psychology than most people here. I'm not sure what you would consider nasty, name calling and venomous, but those things meet my criteria. I've had a couple of heated discussions with folks here, and I still consider them good people. This lady, not so much.

Sir...You obviously have not read the whole thing. The other women have taken shots at me, and stated that I obviously have no knowledge of the human anatomy. That's why I was so disgusted by women who ARE OLD ENOUGH TO BE MY MOTHER OR GRANDMOTHER (OR GRANDFATHER) calling me childish and attacking me. I think you should read up on what you are talking about before you call someone vicious, nasty, evil, or a bad person. That just makes you all of those things. Thanks!

Wow. Talk about rude...!!!! I think you shouild read my one reply again, because I only talked of a childish approach... no one called you childish... and only ONE person mentioned your knowledge of anatomy, not MULTIPLE "other women". You are portraying yourself as the victim of attacks that never happened!

One of your other responses says you won't bother to "take advice" from us old, mean people. No need to worry... I won't bother to offer you any. You will probably find, as you travel the road of life, that making nasty remarks about people's age doesn't win you any friends or allies. There is wisdom in age and experience.

Really? I said that? LOL...That right there is pretty childish! I have yet to put words in anyone's mouth, thank you! You probably shouldn't either. Also, my comment about age was only to prove the point that I have been called childish when, the people who have been arguing with me, spitting their rude comments at me are a lot older than I am. And several people were telling me that "it is scary that people these days clearly have no basic knowledge of the human anatomy." That is what prompted this post! You all are just writing in response to things I have said that you might not have liked. Which is very hypocritical, being that your very argument is that if you don't like what someone says, don't take it to heart and move on. Make sense now? If you all are so bothered by what I have said then BLOCK ME! I don't care to hear any of you argue with me or ATTACK me anymore! It is disgusting that I have a man calling me a bad person & evil...I don't deserve that at all.
