Please explain

When a product is labeled sugar free  but has sugar alchols  isn't that the same thing??   and won't it have the same results?

No, it's not the same thing.  Sugar alcohols are basically artificial sweeteners.  They have fewer calories than real sugar.

Will it have the same results?  Do you  mean in terms of dumping?  Not necessarily.  Some people don't tolerate sugar alcohols well but some do.  Some people also tolerate sugar just fine.

 Before surgery I could eat sugar free stuff now after surgery I have tried a few things and its been a bite and made me very sick.

Sugar alcohols make me terribly sick.  I haven't tried real sugar yet, so I don't know how I'll react to that.

Here is the equivalency of sugar alcohol to sugar...  sugar alcohol = 1/2 sugar.  So divide the sugar alcohol by 2 and that is sugar content.  But like everyone on here has said... some people's body reacts differently to them.  I have read that the most sugar alcohols bariatrics patients should have is 10 grams per serving.
