Am I the only one???

Am I the only one that does not exercise??  I absolutely HATE it!!  And I have ZERO motivation!
(there is no medical reason holding me back either)

I know, I know.... Some will say if you would start exercising I would have motivation... Tried that, been there done that....  Still no change...

I have 3 kids work full-time in a crazy doctors office and am moving all day long.  I have no desire to get up early.... and am too exhausted when I get home.  At night and the weekends are with my kids and husband...

I have a feeling I am really jeopardizing my results... I have a follow up appt with my Doc on Tuesday and he is NOT going to be happy when I confess I have not been exercising....

I guess I am willing to hear any thoughts.... suggestions..... words of wisdom/encouragement....

remember it doesn't have to be organized exercise...take the stairs, park in the back of the parking lot....go shopping and move through the mall....walk.....clean.....just keep moving. Watching TV get up on commercials and do a quick chore...or part of one...and continue next commercial...every little bit helps!!

do you have kids, so kick the ball in the yard...thow the football around...go to a park and swing...just move and have fun!

I don't get much exercise.  I hate it too.  Some forms of exercise I hate more than others but I swear I have never found one I like.  Everyone always says the key to exercising is to find an activity you enjoy, blah blah blah.  I've tried lots of different things and I don't enjoy any of them.  I do go for walks sometimes but not if it's too cold or too hot outside and when I do, I don't walk very fast..

It hasn't kept me from reaching goal or maintaining my weight loss.  I'm aware that I will probably have to be more careful about my diet if I don't exercise and won't be able to eat as many calories since I will burn fewer calories.  So far it seems to be working for me.

Thank you for the replies. I'm happy to see you posted Kelly. I know yu have had great success so that gives me hope. I am a pretty busy person with work and 3 kids. So it's not like I sit on my butt all the time. (even tho more days than not I would like too - hehe!)
Anyway, just hope I can continue to have good weight loss throughout this journey.
Thanks for the replies!

You aren't alone, I hate exercise too. Not exercising did not keep me from losing or maintaining. I move a lot so I am burning calories. Between work, running the boys to activities, house work and yard work I rarely have time to just sit and relax.

Other than water aerobics for about 6 months, and using my recumbent bike a couple of times a week, I have not been an exerciser (not only because I have always hated it, but because of bad knees).  I did have a 6-month period where I joined the local rec center and worked out 4-5 times per week (combination of cardio -- elliptical -- and weight training) in the hopes of dropping another 10 pounds.  I was miserable (although I did not mind the weight training too much) and cranky... and I actually GAINED a few pounds.  So I now only use my recumbent bike very occasionally and I try to do more walking with the dogs and take the stairs going up at work (but take the elevator down since going down REALLY hurts my knees).  That's all the exercise I get, yet I am 4 years out (in 2 weeks) and am maintaining my weight at abnout 5 pounds above my goal weight.  It just means that I have to eat less...

My surgeon always says you can lose weight by not exercising, but to keep it off you need to exercise. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, but I think you need to incorporate some sort of activity if you want your best chance of getting to goal and staying there.

I am a single mom of two, with no baby-daddy, but I decided I had to put myself first to be the best mom I could be for them. I go to the gym 3 times a week and feel so much better after a good workout. It helps my stress level in addition to building muscles (I

Wear a pedometer - you may be getting more exercise than you realize! I was going thru a spell where I had no motivation to use that huge friggen treadmill I just got - then realized my B12 was crazy low and since taking alot more, I have more energy to exercise. But that's just me....
