Swallow or chew?

If we CAN swallow multi vitamins and have not ill effect, like pain, is it ok to do so?  Meaning, does the swallow form of a vitamin still absorb as well as chewable ones?

I hate the taste of chewable vits, so I have gone to swallow ones, just want to know they are working.

When I was a month out my MD told me that as long as nothing felt stuck and it didn't give me pain, than I could swallow my vitamins. But, YMMV, check with your MD.

What is YMMV? I've seen it in other posts too but don't know what it means.

Hi Lisa. I think we absorb both types of vitamins equally.  At least I hope so because I only chew my iron pill and swallow all the rest now. LOL

Chew or swallow. What counts is what's inside the pill in question. If it's the wrong type, say vit D, it doesn't matter how you use it. Only D3 in a dry form works for us. So, if it's in a soft gel, like the rx or common ones, it is the same as nothing to you.

I also would rather not have to "taste" my vites, so just swallow them since day 7 after surgery

The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery says it is fine to swallow vitamins if they go down OK.

Thanks goodness, because I am counting down the days until I can swallow pills again.  This chewable, crushable, liquid crap is nasty.
