PCOS and RNY
I just saw a post that scared me. I had RNY on the 10th and am 20lbs down. I just read someones post regarding their weightloss and having PCOS. She said something to the regards that the PCOS has slowed her weight loss down and nearly making it impossible. I have PCOS and now I am a little freaked out that this will impact my weight loss. Anyone have PCOS and have issues with their weightloss or I would love to hear anyone with it that it didnt slow the loss down.
Thank you
Now im anxious :/

I have PCOS. I am almost two months out and have lost 47 lbs. The PCOS hasn't seemed to effect my weightloss at all. In fact a week after my surgery my endocrinologist took me off the Metformin I was on to control the PCOS. He said that with the weight loss my PCOS symptoms would go away. I have heard people say that it slowed them down, but it hasn't worked that way for me. In fact my endocrinologist recommended I have the RNY because I can't take estrogen. I wouldn't worry that much. I mean you just had yours on the 10th and you've already lost 20 lbs. That's incredible in and of itself!! You will do great!!
I was diagnosed with PCOS about ten years ago. My doctors advice back then was to put down my fork and lose weight. Thats it, no treatment of any kind.
I had RNY two years ago and i've lost over 250 lbs. I weigh less now that I did in high school. I was 450 and down to 190. So if it did slow down or hinder my weight loss then i'm at a loss for words, which never happens..lol.
Not saying it doesn't. Just saying you can play the hand you are dealt and still come out on top.
Good luck!!1

I have PCOS and will be having the RNY on 9/9. The low carb high protein diet is in itself a break in the PCOS cycle. Not to mention the advantages the surgery provides towards weightloss. If it does slow down, look at your carbs and sugar alcohol intake and your exercise routine. 20 lbs in 16 days is unbeleivable!!!! I am so happy for you!!!!!!!!
Thank yall so much, I know it was a petty worry but it sort of freaked me out cause I didnt even think about that. I am so happy for the weight loss so far but I am really excited about the future. I am looking forward to being healthy and shopping for normal size clothes ;) I love shopping so I am sure that will get me in trouble.lol
I have PCOS. My PCOS symptoms before surgery were obesity, high blood pressure, high fasting insulin, hypoglycemia, and infertility. My weight loss was good after surgery. My blood sugars are better but I still have to eat every 2 hrs to avoid low blood sugar. I have monthly periods now. My blood pressure of 23 yrs was cured day of surgery.
I feel sooooo much better! I feel so healthy. Don't worry, you will be fine. Keep your protein up to help with blood sugars and exercise!

I'm 47 years old. I had PCOS and it did not affect my weight loss at all. I lost a total of 150 lbs. I no longer have high BP, high cholesterol, or pre-diabetes. I have to eat every 3 hours to avoid blood sugar drops. The only remnant of my PCOS that remains is the extra fat in my abdomen. At my highest weight of 285, my abdomen was SO huge that I looked pregnant.
Hope this helps!
