Lap-Band to RNY how do you feel?
I currently have the Lap-Band. I had a consult with my doctor yesterday and my two chooses to switch, because I am having problems with the Band is RNY or the Sleeve. I listened to both options. My concern with the sleeve is we do not know the 5 year results as we do know the RNY result that has been around for many many years and has been perfected over the years. If you switched did you have any complications? Was it fairly easy transition? I would love to hear your story. Thanks.
I lost my band last year in june, it took my insurance over 8 months to approve me for the RNY, I'm happy with it, I didn't have a choice though as Tricare would not cover any other surgery.
I'm happy though, its different, a whole different ball game than the band, at least to me it is, and you really have to know the differences and pay attention in nutrition classes. Good luck with whatever you choose!

not to highjack the post but are you on prime? i am guessing you are because of where you live. and are you having any problems getting the NUT visits covered? I am on prime but i always notice that my NUT appts are being denyed on the website. I haven't been billed for anything as of yet though. knock on wood. i wanted the sleeve in the worst way but tricare wouldn't cover it. they are considereing in the nxt 5 years. so i am thinking i was suppose to have the rny anyways. lol
I am three weeks out from a revision from lapband to RNY. I had problems with my lapband since it slipped and was repositioned in 1/07. I chose RNY over the sleeve because I was afraid the GERD I acquired after the lapband would continue with the sleeve and I didn't want to live with that. I thought RNY surgery was more difficult than either of my band surgeries, but other than the G-tube that was placed as a precaution I felt good in two weeks, just tired. Hopefully those further out will share more of their experience. I have had no complications. Best wishes!

I had my revision on August 8, 2011. I am 7 weeks post op and feel wonderful. I will say the first 3 weeks were very difficult, but so worth it. I have lost more in 7 weeks than i did with the band for 18 months. At this point, I have had no complications and feel like a different person. I am very happy I chose to have RNY!

I had problems with the lapband. It had slipped so badly I couldn't have my RNY done at the same time as band removal. I had to have my band removed and let my stomach heal and go back in 3 months and have RNY. I had horrible reflux with the band and it is ALL gone! I have been a slow loser but at least it is coming off!
