13 months ago I never would have imagined this!
Going into my surgery I knew there were things I wanted to do like shop for normal clothes, fit in an airplane seat, sit on a public toilet (WITH ASS GASKET) and not pray the wall didn't break! Then some coworkers got me to sign up for our companies annual 5K to which I said hell I can walk that. All of the people I was going to walk with then backed out the day of the race, but I was determined to prove to myself I could do this. Well I feel the same pride finishing every race that felt finishing that first one.
So 13 months ago I never imagined I would be able to run 5K or 3.1 miles, much less pay some charity every month to let me run, well the T shirts are pretty cool and they are for a good cause so it is worth it. Never mind that I regularly pay to run 5K with a hundred or so people. I have paid to run 10K with 60K people and help set a world record for the worlds largest 10K. I paid even more to run 15K for a Tshirt and a medal.
BUT NEVER did I ever dream that I would run in a Half Marathon, but in my quest to prove to myself what I am capable of that is what I will be spending my Sunday morning doing. Yes 13.1 miles and I paid someone to let me do it! The coolest part is my friend, who convinced me I could run 5K, regularly does Marathons emailed me and said I had inspired her to run in the same race because it had been a couple months since she has done an event.
It is both an awesome and weird feeling to have inspired someone to do something like this. All I was doing was training and logging miles so I knew that I could finish this run.
So 13 months ago I never would have imagined that I would give people my hard earned money to run for as little as 30 minutes or as long as what I am hoping will be 2.5 hours, and get a Tshirt as a reward.
I think I would rather spend my money running and collecting T-shirts than I would paying some restraunt to help kill me.
Good Luck!

People think we are crazy anyway. First we let a doctor go inside us and rearrange our digestive system. We get where we don't mind telling our weight, no matter what it is. A little food fills us up although we look like we could eat the entire cow and we pay to exercise, of course I haven't gotten to that point yet. Well I guess I have because I have my own home gym so I guess I since I paid for the equipment that I do pay to exercise.
I am proud of you.
I am proud of you.

CONGRATS PAUL!!!!!
Wishing you a painless 13.1 miles!
I totally understand now how this becomes an addiction. I never in my life would have thought I could walk 60 miles! Yep, I paid to do that as well as having to raise $2300. Im ready to do it again... as soon as my feet let me!
Wearing the Tshirt is a badge of honor. Wear it proud!!!

So as if Running 13.1 isn't crazy enough in a mad attempt to rehab my leg I sat in my tub last night with 2 inches of water and 30 pounds of ice for 15 minutes. The leg did feel better but I had a couple lumps in my throat which I am sure belonged further south!
