If you could do this surgery all over again....

I am 4 years out and maintaining a loss of 180 pounds (5 to 7 pounds above my lowest weight) and I would absolutely have weight loss surgery again. I would, however, seriously consider having sleeve instead of RNY.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I am 7+ years post-op RNY and I absolutely would have weight loss surgery all over again.

BUT, I would have the DS.  Better weightloss stats, higher cure rate with diabetes, no reactive hypoglycemia (my only complication), more "normal" post-op eating pattern.

I am with you on that decision.  I would choose the DS if I had to do it all over again.

Absolutely, though I might have gotten a DS- weight loss surgery saved my life.

Abso-freaking-lutely! Seriously, aside from the obvious statement that having WLS probably saved my life literally, it saved it figuratively too. I feel incredible about myself. When I run the stairs instead of standing in line for the elevator, when I comfortably slide into a booth, buckle my seatbelt, smile back at someone looking at me without wondering if they are just gawking at my weight - it's worth every single rough moment and dime I spent. I'd spend my entire savings to be in this place mentally and physically. Being obese didn't give me much opportunity to enjoy the money I had. I was missing out on so much that life had to offer.

I'd do it again without question.

Definitely YES!! It has saved my life. I feel sooo much better now. Words just can't explain. It's only going to get better. I can't wait to see what it feels like when I lose another 50 lbs.

Without a doubt Id do it again in a heartbeat! I have a LIFE now whereas before I was just merely existing....you simply caNOT put a price on that! Im down 123 lbs in 6 mo, down from 381. If i never lost another pound id be happy, i feel THAT good! I LOVE my RnY! The ONLY thing I regret about any of this journey is the fact I let myself get to the point where I *HAD* to have surgery to lose the weight and get healthy.

At just under three weeks out I would say No I wouldn't do it again.  But I'm really really really hoping that changes over time!  Every one I spoke to personally before my surgery... not a single person regretted it.

In a heartbeat I'd do it again and I'd pay for it out of pocket if I had that kind of money to do it.  I'm also quite sure that this was the right surgery for me (and I knew about all the surgeries and they were all covered by my insurance).

Oh you betcha!  I'm only 6 weeks out, but I am so glad I had the surgery.   It has already made a big change in my life for the better.  Along with have laser eye correction & a hysterectemy RNY is one of the best things I've done for myself.
