3 months out - eating LOTS?

The huge thing (no pun intended) on my mind right now is the amount of food I am able to eat with absolutely NO discomfort.  (please do not tell me to not eat so much if I know it is wrong... if I could do that after 3months practice I wouldn't have needed my guts rearranged, now would I?)

Anyway - in the midst of all of my chaos I forgot I was going to track food to take to the NUT before she leaves, so I started
tracking.

Thursday
lunch - turkey burger patty with babybel cheese melted on it,  not quite 1/4 of dill pickle
dinner -   noodle-less lasagna -   lean beef sausage, cheese, tomato sauce  (about 3/4 cup?)

Friday

800am -  Denny's "Fit Fare"  -  about 2 (maybe even 3???) TBS scrambled egg whites with diced tomatoes and baby spinach leaves,  2 strips turkey bacon and  a couple of small slices of fruit (ie 1/4 of small strawberry, 2 small "chunks" of cataloupe and a couple of banana coins)

12pm - Protein shake on the way to work out with trainer

7pm -  steamed tilapia fillet (thick) with about 3/4 c of steamed veggies

Saturday
630am protein shake headed to 5k
  12 pm steamed tilapia fillet
630pm -  hard shell taco AND pintos and cheese

So today I have tried to limit my intake.  I had a protein shake for breakfast and steamed tilapia for lunch.   I have already eaten my lunch at work (chili)  and have a satsuma (citrus) for my snack later tonight.   I am so afraid of failing this.

Sorry if my "intro paragraph" came across rude.... I am just terribly scared and ashamed.

At 3 mo out, I was SHOCKED by how quickly hunger came back. And was afraid I was eating too much. Then I started tracking on MyFitnessPal.... To this day, I still don't exceed the calories or carbs that my NUT recommends. I'm supposed to be around 1200 cal per day, more than 70g protein and between 30-50g carbs. If I wanted to maintain the weight I'm at, I'd have to bump it up to 1400-1600. Yeah, I'm getting around 1000 - and that feels like eating all day long! So my point is, you may feel like that's alot of food but the nutritional break-down is what's important. If you're meeting your plan's goals and not going crazy overboard (like 2000 cals daily EVERY DAY), you're doing fine!

I had sure hoped I would be one of the lucky ones who never felt hunger again  :) .  Actually I can go all day without eating ( I know that is a bad thing) , but by the end of the day I feel like something is inside me gnawing on me lol.
Thank you for reminding me of Myfitnesspal... I signed up last night an entered the last few days meals... highest calories were in the 600s so that helped my feelings!  I just don't want to fail.
I see my NUT next week and I am going to have to ask for more details on carbs etc.  She doesn't give definitive info on that kind of thing because she doesn't want me to obsess over the details... but since I am ANYWAY   lol

That doesn't sound like a "lot" to me.  Your pouch is meant to strech/give to allow us to eat more food.  we aren't meant to live off of 1/4 cup of food forever.  I was told that eventually, I should be able to eat between a cup and 1 1/2 cup of food in a sitting.  Additionally you have to remember, that food on your plate may SEEM like a lot (because of the bulk)...but after you chew and its compacted down, its not that big in your pouch.  Think of it as your mouth is now doing the job of the blender from the puree stage.  When the food hits your pouch...its not the same bulk/size as it appears on your plate.

1 tilapia fillet is about 4 oz (I get the individually packaged ones) and according to my NUT...that's the appropriate amount of protein you should be able to comfortably eat...and if you have room any veggies.  I can eat a tilapia fliet and about 1/4 cup of steam veggies at a time so I don't *think* you are eatting too much.

If it helps you to ease your mind...weight out all your protein and use volume measurements (measuring cups) for your veggies.  That way you will get the visual "cues" and can associate what the right amounts are supposed to look like on your plate.

Good Luck!

Thanks!  I was actually thinking about how I pretty much chew stuff until it is liquified LOL.   I talked to a friend who is about a year and half out last night and told him what I was eating.... he asked me how many tacos I would have eaten a year ago   WOW  perspective.

Our plan (at least the binder they passed out) says 3/4- 1cup meals, and I get more than that sometimes.   But my friend pointed out last night I also go to the gym several times a week, including personal trainer sessions once a week.  Hopefully my NUT agrees  :)

The amount of food was very hard for me.  My first suggestion is to make sure you are eating very slow.  Eat 3 bites protien to 1 bite of vegetables.  Make your total meal last 20-30 minutes. I actually set a egg timer.

I do not eat any where as much when I eat slow.

I was eating a 1/2 cup to 2/3 cup of food way sooner than a lot of people.  Some days i can eat 2/3 cup of food, somedays more.

please measure your food until you are absolutely sure you know the amounts you can eat.  Sometimes I measure my food out and realize I cant eat all of this.  I feed to dog.  I still measure my food out and I am a year out

I do have to be VERY careful about how fast I eat.  My jobs have always been the kind where you can take lunch if you have time, otherwise you can eat at home.   I should try the timer bit.... I bet I would be surprised how fast I eat even when I am trying to slow down.

I guess I am going to take measuring cups and spoons to work so I can be more sure of quantities.   I don't care what people think - I just don't want to fail.  This is my chance of a lifetime.

at lunch I frequently set the egg timer.  People get a kick out of that.

I also have measuring spoons and cups that I use at work.

Tamara

I eat one bite every 2 minutes.  Try it.  Bet ya you are eating way, way too fast
