is this dumping? -Bit gross-
I think it is but would like 2nd opinion.
Before I headed to Scotland I needed stool softeners and even then going to the toilet was hard. After a couple of days in Scotland some carbs crept into my diet and it was much easier going to the toilet.
I don't eat loads of carbs but definately more than the first couple of months. I don't experience the horrible discomfort some have described but I do have mild cramps and now when I go to the toilet it's often like water.
Guess, I should try and get to a level where I eat just enough good carbs to help me go, but not too much that it's like water.
My weight loss has sped up a little lately and I'm wondering if it's becuase things are passing through me the way they are. Or could be just coincidence -who knows?
If it's dumping, can it interfere with nutrient absorption?

Probably not. Cramps are common with diarrhea, and diarrhea itself is not dumping, although some people get diarrhea along with other symptoms of dumping. Unless you're also having the rapid heartrate, sweating, dizziness, fatigue along with the diarrhea, I don't think it's dumping. And for most people, if you're not sure if it's dumping or not, it's probably not. When you dump, you'll almost certainly know it because it is just that bad.

First rule of thumb: if you have to ask, it's not dumping. Dumping is not mild discomfort or an annoying symptom it's thinking that you are dying (or wishing it) - it really feels that bad! Can't tell you how many times I have seen people post that they are dumping at that moment and I always think - not if you have the capacity to open your laptop and type, you're not!!!!
I would say that you have probably increased your fat intake considerably while in Scotland (that's why the food tastes so good!) and THAT is why you are going to the bathroom easier. We malabsorb fats waaaay easier than we do carbs and I have never really counted fats but I do keep a very close eye on carbs for that reason - even this far out - and I have rarely had constipation in the 7 years after my RNY.
If you care to have a peer at your poo before you flush, you'll maybe see it floating in an oil slick!!!!

For me, you either dump or you don't! There are no maybe's or am I's or mild episodes!
I know most people like to think they will but the 30% quoted is probably a high estimate of those that truly do.
It really is the worst feeling in the world and there is no doubt when you do - believe me. If you do it will help keep you on the straight and narrow. It's why I don't eat pie or ice cream EVER!!! I have read several times that it gets less and less the further out you are - soooooo not true - I still dump as hard now as I ever did, if I eat the wrong stuff! I suppose the difference is that the further out you get, the better you get to recognise your trigger foods.
