Post-Op issues

So I have been having a hard time with phase 3, I can't eat any thing I end up vomiting everytime.  I ended up in the ER today from right flank pain a fever and upper abdominal pain.  They did a CT and everything is normal, my labs where good except for my liver levels they were high, doc says that it could just mean a fatty liver. I don't understand how that could be if I haven't been able to eat anything, and the only things that I have gotten in my system is 50 gms of protein and fluids, that is all. I make my protein shake with 1/2 cup greek yogurt, 8 -10 oz 1 % milk and a scoop of protein powder some times I add 1/4 cut of unsweetened applesauce but that is all.

Has anyone every heard of such a thing?

Then she tells me that its most likely a stricture, which her PA told me a week ago and was planning on scheduling a upper GI for today. The upper GI is going to happen but I now have to have only fluids for 2 days before hand to get the swelling to go down.

They gave me pain meds for the pain but its not doing anything. I am freaking out, even though she told me everything looks great and not to worried I don't know what to do.

If it is a stricture, which is what it sounds like, you will be much better as soon as they do the scope and dilation. Praying for you!

Yeah, sounds like a stricture.  I wonder why they aren't doing a scope so they can fix it when they find it?

They plan is for that to be done Friday or Monday, she says that doing it now with all the swelling will be worse for me. That is why I'm on only liquids for 2 days.

Oh, OK.  I thought they were doing an upper GI in two days and then would have to schedule a scope if they needed to dilate a stricture.

The same thing happened to me and it was a stricture.  I've been dilated twice.  It's no big deal to get it fixed :)  Good luck to you !

 What exactly is a stricture?

The way it was explained to me is, where they attached the intestines to the stomach, (it being made and not natural) tightens because of scar tissue. Making the opening smaller and hard for food to pass through.
