vent on apnea

So yesterday I got the results of my recent sleep study. I'm not very happy. Will be speaking to the sleep dr soon about the results but reading the results, there IS improvement .... but still meet diagnosis for moderate obstructive sleep apnea. ARRRRRGGHHHH!!!!! and WAAAAAAAHHHAAAA!!!
I was so hoping to be REMOVING diagnoses and this would have been a big one. I do keep telling myself that there's IMPROVEMENT and I no longer have daytime sleepiness like I did 134lbs ago. But..... still disappointed.
Realistically, I knew there was a chance that even with the weight gone, I'd still have apnea. I have a small frame (read: small jaw) and multiple family members with apnea, so genetics and maxilofacial structure were riding against me. eh..... c'est la vie!

Sorry Nicole. As you said there are many factors in sleep apnea. I'm glad there is some improvement though.

Hugs!

Sorry to hear that.  I understand the disappointment... I thought my knee pain would go away after losing the weight, but the arthritis damage is done.

At least it is better and you aren't as sleepy during the day... And it might still continue to improve.

I understand where you are..just started the fight to see if i need to do another sleep study but not having any luck.  Seems my sleep people don't want to help me much.  I have stopped using my cpap for the last month because when i use it i feel like i am getting so much air in i am choking..so i literally can't use it anymore.  I am afraid i will still need it as i am still somewhat struggling during the day with a bit of sleepiness...but usually if i am moving and doing things i am fine.  Hopefully you will not always have to use it but sometimes those genes sure suck huh?  But you could have worse things in your genes to worry about and sleep apnea is about the least of the problems you could have inherited...    take care and i hope you IMPROVE lots more in the future

Lilbear - sound like you need your pressure adjusted on the machine....or can you get a machine that can be set on variable?

Mine improved as well but I haven't reached goal weight yet so I'm hoping it will get better.  Sorry to hear it isn't gone.  I am using a really soft silicone nasal pillows head gear which is not uncomfortable.

I definately need my pressure checked but i can't seem to get ahold of my sleep peeps..so i am not sure what to do..will have to call them..instead of just emailing them..problem is that in the last 2 years since i have had it, i have changed insurances so i need to check with my insurance  to see what they cover and all that.  And IF they even cover my current sleep apnea providers.  Which can anyone adjust my machine or is it just a specific machine to my provider?  Yeah questions like that come up.  lol
