Man boobs...

I am just over a month away from my RNY procedure and as much as I try to limit my concerns to the those most immediate, I can't help but wonder if, as part of the weight loss, my man boobs will go away as well.

If they don't, what then?

There HAS to be someone here who has dealt with this issue.

For the record, I am 5' 7" currently weighing in at 286...

No idea how much weight I will lose, not really concerned about that, just want to free of my Type II, and my CPAP.

Any feedback from someone who has been there would be helpful!

Thanks so much in advance.

Click on My Journey at the top of this page, and look at some of the before and after pictures of men who have had WLS.  You can narrow the listings by surgery and by sex.

OK - not a man but my girl boobs have definitely shrunk. I'm sure yours will because you have a lot more muscle there that you can tone up.  If not, there's always surgery.  You are right though - the focus is on your health not really you appearance.  If you can get rid of the Type II and the CPAP you are well ahead of the game. Good Luck.

My brother was probably about a C cup (lol) before he lost weight. He lost about 80 pounds and his man boobs went down to about an A cup. Push ups really helped him out of his man boob status.

Do you mean to say that he is actually wearing a bra?

Or is there another type of restraining garment for men (and I'm not talking about the Kramer/Frank Kostanza invention of 'the bro' as per the episode of Seinfeld?

If he would be willing to discuss it, I'd be happy to forward my contact info to him via you..

I am almost 10 months out have lost about 86lbs am a MAN and would have to say I have NOT really seen much of a decrease in my man boobs. Its kind of disappointing as I  was hoping for a reduction. The darn mamies just dont seem to get any smaller. Now everywhere else is smaller so it could be that I just dont see it but they sure dont seem to have shrunk.

Sorry not the answer you were hoping for.

Your body will lose the fat where it wants to but your Man Boobies should get smaller which means you will just have nipples hanging halfway to your belly button!

On the plus side your do gain some length back in your junk!  as you lose pelvic fat you get back the junk that was surronded by the fat.  You won't actually grown length in your junk but just recoup what was once lost!

If they are still a problem after you lose weight, you can always get them reduced with plastic surgery.
