Post RNY Surgery Menu Challenge....

So my friend asked me what am I going to eat after surgery? Our friend had it and she eats the same thing every day. I asked my surgeon who is the same as hers how that would be for me. He said obviously it works she lost 145 in a year.

So for myself and for my friend so I can show her my diet is varied
I have with this plan 915 calories and 96 grams of protein plus veggies not sure how to count those....

I work at 3am until 530 am delivering the newspaper and get up at 8am for the day.

3am leave for work with a EAS Shake to drink while I am working
8am Breakfast a Activia lowfat vanilla yogurt with a fiber 1 90 cal bar
10am Snack of cottage cheese lowfat 2% and a apple sliced up
12pm Lunch 2 packets of lipton cream of chicken cup of soup I am addicted!
2pm Snack EAS Shake
4pm Snack in carpool PB2 and a sliced apple
6pm Dinner 3 oz of chicken breast with veggies (not sure about calories in veggies)
8pm Snack Green Yogurt Dannon Oikos Plain fat free with Torani FF SF Flavored Syrup

915 Calories 96 Grams of Protein and this seems like a lot of food.
Also since I can't drink for a half hour before or after I guess every hour 9 11 1 3 5 7 I will drink water.

If I did a 22 oz sports bottle x those 6 times would be 132 oz of liquids.

Do you think I will be able to eventually get in a 22 oz sports bottle of water in a hour?
How does this plan look? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

From your plan it looks like you'd be getting your required protein and water(I can drink an entire 16.9 oz bottle of water in an hour at 2 months post op).

Personally I couldn't eat the same thing day after day..but if you can go for it.

Wow, I'm entering my third month and I do about 1/2 that still.  But I had complications that set me back.

You may find that it'll be a little difficult at first. Some of those servings look larger than 1/4 c.  You may not be able to stick to your schedule at first, but I really do hope you will work up to it in a short period of time!

You may want to put your vitamins in your schedule too.  It may help post surgery.

Some people like the comfort of a repetitive menu, and some need variety!  I am a variety girl!

You'll find things that work, and some that don't....and you may get on a "kick" for a while, and then be sick of it.

I went through a phase where I cooked chicken thighs covered in buffalo sauce every week for weeks....then my DH said he'd had it enough, and to please stop making it!

I do, however, have one thing every single day.  A grilled chicken breast.  I grill them on the weekend and put them into separate sandwich bags in the fridge...I take one every day with me and eat some of it whenever I'm hungry.....53 grams of protein and it is real food.  I never get tired of it!

Sounds pretty well balanced. But don't be surprised if you can't eat that much right after surgery. Especially with items that are higher in fiber or protein.

You may be able to though. Folks seem to run the gamut with eating capacity. I know that menu would not have been doable for me until about 9 months post op to be honest with you.

But I love that you have your head on straight, don't seem to be going for auto-deprivation, etc.

Good luck to you!

That looks just fine to start out with, just don't be surprised if you can't eat that much in the beginning.

And don't be surprised if, after a while, you decide you want some variety.  I think it's best to stay flexible, our needs change from time to time.

It's scary how much alike we think sometimes. Cuz I know for a fact you prolly did not read my post before writing yours. That happens with us often. You think you could be my missing left brain? (Or right???)

Umm, if you have the other half of my brain, could you give it back?  I'm thinking I need it!

I had a lot of problems eating in the beginning and found that a few foods actually tasted good and felt good once they got into my pouch. So I was a pretty boring eater but it worked for me. Now I have much more variety but at 8 months I don't think I could eat all of that in one day. At least not yet
