OT - "the new IPad"
Just wondering what your thoughts are on the new IPad. I don't have one yet but will be getting one in the near future. Would you get the new one and if so, would you get 3G or 4G and why? I have been wondering if I should get the new one or the IPad 2....I have returned to school for my RN so I thought this would be a good tool to have for when I need to take notes, as I can type faster than writing....Let me know what you think...Thanks in advance...
I bought my wife an iPad 2 last year and she loves it. The 3G was great until I got a 4G air card for my laptop and experienced 4G for the first time. It blows 3G out of the water. I was just telling my wife that we are going to get rid of our iPhones and buy some 4G Droids because they are just soooo much faster. She wasn't happy because she loves her iPhone. If the new iPad 3 comes in a 4G model, I'll be the first on line to get her one. Plus we just got 4G coverage in our area so it's full bars anywhere in my house. I've taken to using my wireless air card even when I'm home and could be using my wireless network. THAT'S how fast it is. Couple that with an iPad and it's the perfect storm.
I have an iPad 2 and was not sure how much I would really use it since I cannot run the Microsoft Office products (which I can/do run both on my PC laptop and MacBook), but I actually use it a lot since it is so portable. (I still find the autocorrect an double-edged sword, though, and find myself cussing at it a lot, LOL!)
Do consider whether or not you can actually type faster on a TOUCH SCREEN. For me, at least, it is not nearly as fast as typing on a regular keyboard. Also, have you considered how you would store/save/transfer your notes on or from the iPad. Not one of its strengths since it does not have a standard file system.
Personally, I did not see enough new in the new version to make me even think about upgrading. From what I heard about continuing availability of the iPad 2 at a potentially lower price (even for a brand new one), if I were buying my first one, I would spend less and buy the iPad 2 instead of the newest one.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Thanks. I did not know they had cloud storage available.
My MacBook is pretty small and light, so taking it to the library and class was never a problem and I type MUCH faster on a real keyboard (which is more important than the smaller size of the iPad).
My iPad goes with me all over the place, though. Anywhere that I might have to sit and wait for more than 5 minutes.

I love my iPad! Honestly, even if you don't have 4g available at your home now, you should still consider purchasing the 4g model. They can still run on the 3G network.
I bought my mother one last year after she kept stealing mine to read her books. My dads bday is my next purchase. He keeps stealing my moms to play on the apps. It's hilarious I'll meet up with them for dinner somewhere and they will both be sitting in the booth passing the iPad and iPhone back and forth and playing games. It's kinda surreal. I have to tell my parents to put their toys away and eat. LOL.
Only issue is the main gripes. Flash and most forums don't recognize the file structure of an iPad so importing things can be pain.
Hope you enjoy yours!

I bought an IPad 1 on a whim. I haven't put this thing down in the 18 -24 months I've had it. I carry it in my purse. I didn't get 3G and regretted it. I like to use it for comparison shopping, etc and can't always find a wifi signal. However, I preordered a new IPad about 2 hours after they started selling them! I am so excited. I can't wait for it to get here. I definitely got 4G this time! I looked online today and there a couple of companies with Bluetooth keyboard cases for the new IPad. I really recommend that for taking notes. I have a PC laptop that I use for long distance school. My schools long distance program doesn't work with IPad.
Also I have the 16 MB one. I don't download a lot of movies or music so I hardly have used any storage space. I bought a 32MB one this time because I would like to be able to watch movies when we are travelling this year. Plus it has a camera and mine doesnt so i will use it for that. I have several trips planned. I probably could have gotten by with 16 MB again, but I had the money so I figured why not.
