The worst part about getting "fat"
RNY on 09/17/12
So I have to share. The absolute worst thing about me feeling seriously fat is that I can't wear my beloved high-high heels.
I regularily wore 3-4" heels every day at work, but due to the recent pains in my pack and legs I can't wear heals at all! I'm lucky if I can get away with something other than sneakers.
So, I have to say that one of the things I most look forward to in the future after WLS is wearing my heals again (I have a whole closet of 200+ shoes!!).
Also, I'm looking forward to working out really hard - and feeling good rather than feeling like I'm going to die.

I have NEVER been able to wear high heels. My ankles are tiny and weeak and the extra 130lbs doesnt help im sure!!! My question to you is, is it easier to walk in them once you are thinner? I really would love to wear them.

I am almost 18 and most girls my age have had there first pair or have tried some on. It was always too dangerous for me or my feet were too swollen to know what size my feet actually are.
I cannot wait to have the experience. My first time in heels will probably be when I go to prom. Never imagine this experience like this.

Ladies. Don't get me wrong. I've never worn heels for a long period of time. I usually would wear them while I was in the office ~8 hours but for any length of walking I would put "commuting shoes" such as crocs.
But I've gained 50 lbs in the last two years. So at 50 lbs less I could wear them. But not now.

I hate to tell you this mama....but most likely you will not be able to wear those shoes for long. Your feet are going to shrink and if you have been heavy for quite sometime it will shrink drastically.
I wore a size 10 shoe in 5th grade, then as I packed on the pounds I was in a size 11 by high school (the horror and agony of that). So as an adult I gained more weight and was forced to begin buying size 12 shoes (almost killed me, literally). I too loved heels but I had to start wearing flip flops year round because my feet were always so swollen and fat.
Fast forward 7 months post op I was back in a size 11 now fast forward again 2 years post op I wear a size 10 and sometimes a 9.5!! When I got back into my size 11 shoes I was estatic but they still didn't fit right because they were still for my swollen size 11 feet not normal size 11 feet, so they flopped off. Last year I purchased 63 pairs of size 11 shoes that today I cannot wear.
Girl you are about to have FUN shoe shopping!!! Best of luck to you!!!

Sweet, new shoe shopping!?!
Unfortunately, I don't think that will be the case, I've never dealt with puffy feat and I've been a size 7 since middle school.

Oh oh!! I understand completely!!
I am SUCH a heel addict. I have so many of them, my shoe rack takes up an entire wall of my enormous walk-in closet, AND I have a shoe rack on the back of my door. I love heels.
But it's been a long time since I was able to wear them, and now that the weight is coming off, they're making a debut again. :D It's one of my favorite goals--being able to wear a pair of super sexy stilettos all night without pain.

Charlie. I'm SO with you. I saw your pictures earlier today and you are well on your way!
Oh, girl! I can relate to this for sure!
My feet have never swollen or anything and I have a nice closet full of amazingly cute shoes. I know I'm not alone when I say that a filling my closet with things that are my style and not just the right size or only flattering is pushing me along, too. And the activity thing?! Oh my. I would like to run. Like really run again.
Good thoughts to you! And remember, a new pair of shoes can be a great non-food reward for hard work. ;)
