I'm at 5 weeks, almost 6 weeks post op and I'm concerned about how many calories I should be consuming...my nut wouldn't give me a number and said to concentrate on my protein, but I feel Im consuming too little and my weight loss is very slow..I average about 700 a day and I'm able to tolerate all foods introduced so far...so what should my target goal be for calories?

I was also advised not to count calories that early out.  I think 700 is fine.

Like Kelly, I was not given a number either.  At that point I was still struggling to get even the smallest amount of protein.  I would concentrate of the nutritional requirements you were given.

I was told to reach 60 grams of protein and 800 calories as soon as I could. Anything less and your body goes into starvation mode.

I was only given protein and liquid requirements..I dont want to be in starvation mode..In the past, I really messed up my metabolism by skipping meals and drinking my calories via soda. Im not a volume eater, just ate the wrong things when I finally did eat.

I would stay between 600 to 800 calories. If I am in that rabge I lose if I have less or more I dont lose. I am 10 weeks out.

I agree with the posters - you should be tracking protein and not worrying about calories.  Just getting the protein was hard, and that wasn't very many calories.
