You can drInk 40 oz an hour?! I can't even do that now. I barely get my 64 oz in a day. I think your being hard on yourself if that's the case.

yes it does get better.  I felt better after the first week and then each day I noticed it got a little easier.  I couldn't drink much at all.  I probably only got in 2 oz an hour... I know they tell you drink drink drink.  Just keep sipping and do what you can.

It does get better - promise. My surgeon said do not kill yourself trying to get all that liquid in at first, relax and do the best you can. For your gas - try chewable Gas X, it was my best friend. Also walk as much as u are able.

Just take it easy and allow ur body to heal - let others weight on you while u can (lol). Just do ur best you will not dehydrate - besides they pumped u up so much in the hospital, u have time.

4oz an hr isnt great but atleast its something. The only way I was able to drink more that early out was with a straw. The dr said the straw wasnt a good idea but it worked for me and he was ok with it since it was the only way I could get my water in. Have you tried chewing on ice? The gas does get better. My gas pain took a few weeks to pass. Just think about the light at the end of the tunnel

You need to walk....even if it is just a little...this will help distribute the "free air" in your body.

Hang in there. You just do your best.  It takes time to be able to drink enough and get enough protein etc.  Your pouch is small and then gradually it expands.

I'm six days out and it will get better each day. I felt pretty hopeless on day 4 because I was having such bad spasms and gas pains and also wanted something besides clear liquids.  My mom made me some chicken tortilla soup that was completely puréed and I started my full liquids at least partially that day. Hang in there. It will get better!
