Dumping test?
Not to get too philosophic but there is a saying that goes, "In the realm of the mind, whatever one believes to be true either is true or becomes true." That's how I feel about dumping.
Assume you do dump and act accordingly. Will the knowledge that you do NOT dump (if that is the case) serve you well? Or will it open issues of self-control? And more importantly, if you are seeking to achieve a lifestyle change wherein you eat a more balanced and healthful diet, does it really matter if you dump? Shouldn't you eat well because you should eat well?
I know dumping is a help as it is a negative reinforcement. But I don't think testing it is a good idea. Like I said, assume you do and base your actions on that assumption.
Seriously though. I think the only reason this question or thinking frustrates me is because I have seen it go the wrong way far too many times. I just want everyone to avoid it!
I have friends who are years out and STILL don't know if they dump. They don't test it. In many ways they have done far, far better than many others I've seen.
The thing I think is important to remember is that the outcome of this surgery is not JUST a certain weight, but a healthy approach to eating and nutrition. There will come a time when it is perfectly appropriate for you to have dessert in moderation and eat things that justly should NOT be your priority right now. Just remember...life is long. Your "magic window" is not!

It serves me quite well and I DO think it's contributed heavily to my success. I was someone who thought nothing of grabbing two candy bars and a soda for the ride home from work, and then grabbing something else once I got there. Total sugar addict. The assumption of dumping has literally changed my life.
What happens if you test it and learn you don't dump? (most people don't, you know)
If you test it and learn you do dump, do you really want to spend an hour or maybe several hours feeling really, really sick?
What would happen if you didn't test it but just assumed you might dump and so avoided foods that would likely cause dumping?

Also know that some people dump early out and then don't dump down the road, and some people are not vey sensitive early out but dump MORE easily down the road. So knowing whether or not you dump now doesn't guarantee that is how it will stay.
Don't test it. Nothing good can come from knowing that you DON'T dump!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
