Only approx 30% of people dump.  So it is likely you will not.  I do not.  I also never counted on dumping as behavior modification....that had to come from me alone.

Concentrate on living well-making great food choices and EXERCISE.  Everyday.  I promise you this, if you do not take advantage of this 1st year or so to change behavior, you will regain.  It is guaranteed.  Just comb these boards...you'll see.  Visit the Exercise forum......you NEVER see a post about regain there.........that is because we changed our lives by adding regular exercise to our day.

I'm not saying I haven't tested the waters..........after the first year once I hit goal I began to reintroduce in small amounts the things I love....and I do not dump.  I do get the "carb coma" from sugar, fried stuff and too much carbs, so I try to avoid them....but I don't.......I have them on occasion.....and I up the cardio when I do.

Perhaps this is why I don't frequent the exercise forum?

With the exception of a few periods in my life, I've always exercised. And I have regained. Just sayin!

Whereas I am VERY limited in exercise because of my knees, so I do VERY little, yet I am maintaining my weight.  It is a matter of the combination of how many calories you take in and how many you burn.  Those of us who cannot burn more have to eat less.

EXACTLY.  Which requires a discipline that many cannot manage.  Which is why the exercise "freaks" (and yes, I am one of them) have an "easier" time because we are generally burning more than we consume, and many don't have to really watch what they eat (I do not pig out or eat poorly, but I really don't have to count calories).  If I ever have an injury or become limited, I will then have to count everything...and pray I have to willpower to do so!

Oh yeah...we CAN regain when we exercise, but our chances are greatly reduced, and I'll bet the number we DO regain is significantly lower that if we were sedentary.

You and I are "blessed" with that amazing "stavation mode" metabolism.....EVERYTHING sticks because my body swears a famine is always around the corner!!

I would not test.  I too chose this surgery for that reason, among others.  Dumping concerned me, so much so I  was 100% compliant for the first year.  For one year I was completely compliant.  I had my surgery 1 week before Thanksgiving, so the following year I allowed myself to test the waters.  I was a huge sweeter.  And, like I suspected, I fell into the 70%, the statistic I've seen reported here, that do not dump.  I'm not a dumper, so it is 100% will power for me.  It was much easier when I did not know if I dumped.  That is just my opinion.

If I had will power, I wouldn't have to have this surgery.  But I'm taking everyones advice and not test the waters.

Well you DO have a little. Complete lack of willpower would mean you wouldn't put yourself in a situation where your eating could be restricted (thus you wouldn't have gotten the surgery if you didn't at least have some will power).

You are stronger than you think you are. I guarantee it. :)
