Drinking too fast?

so obviously i'm home recuperating and have lots of time on my hands to ask questions LOL!
i had a tough time in hospital getting the water , etc. down. now that i'm home (just 3 days post op), i'm having no trouble at all, even with protein shakes. i am trying to slow it down because i know that we should be sipping. and i am drinking far slower than i would have preop. but it took 3 hours to drink the first protein drink yesterday and only about 30 minutes for one today.
i'd like to think this means i'm healing well and not having complications. but should i be slowing it down more?
thanks again!

It means all is well. No reason to sip if drinking faster is comfortable for you.

In my opinion as long as you aren't uncomfortable drink how you can. I had issue drinking for maybe the first 3 days and then it became easier. Sometimes I will drink 32oz in an hour, but I still drink all day long.

If it does not cause pouch discomfort and the liquid is not backing up into your esophagus, you are not drinking too fast. Seriously. The only reason for the sipping is that SOME people do have trouble drinking post-op and issuing the mandate to everyone saves the surgeon's office a lot of unnecessary phone calls.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

this is great news. thanks all. i have a dilated esophagus from the band i had removed and the radiologist said my pouch was emptying slowly but i am able to drink pretty normally, so i will count myself lucky!
