Those of you that wanted to join me, that is.  And those that wanted to start already.

I pretty much started today because, well, I blew it yesterday.  Last night I ate Triscuits.  Mainly because they were in my house.  And they are yummy.  And I was hungry.  Etc.

But today I am on the right track.  I went out and bought some yogurt, which I had for lunch.  I also bought some raw veggies, which I plan to cut up and eat with hummus.  I've had about 65 grams of protein today already - my protein always goes up when my carbs go down.

I got rid of all my crackers...and I feel good about that.
I have been taking lots of walks to avoid my fake feeling of hunger. I have to keep getting out of the house. The dog likes the frequent walks. There is that.

So far so good.  I do great at work because I only eat what I pack, but it's home I have to worry about.  Dinner last night was a leftover fritatta.  I used chicken breasts, chopped up the stuffed zucchini boats and tossed in some cheese, eggs and milk.  Yum!  I tried to eat a nsa fudge bar a little later but could only eat half.  It didn't want to sit on top of the eggs.

I should add peanut butter to my list as well.  I probably ate 2 tbsp worth yesterday off of a knife, and this morning I had a tsp.  It's so creamy and crunchy all at the same time.  I go through phases...

Today is good as well.  Breakfast the usual.  I did choose to keep my Special K cereal and ground flax because the stats are good and it's a lot of protein vs carbs.  It has good stats and doesn't trigger cravings.

Lunch was chicken breast and roasted squash.  And a leftover zucchini boat.  Yum.

Here in about an hour I'll have some protein.  I've never looked forward to drinking my protein as much as I have since I found the Matrix Mint Cookie.  Before it was a chore and I'd do it sporadically, and now it's a treat.

Dinner - no plans, but I'll stick to the no carb rule.  I feel less puffy and gassy already.  It's a miracle haha.  I knew the gas issues were diet related, but lacked the willpower to just stop.  I've got the rest of the week to show myself why I need this.

I think I feel less bloated, too.  And earlier today I was craving crackers but now I'm not craving them so much.  That's one thing I've noticed, just a day or too without the starchy carby stuff and the cravings for it starts to go away.

You're right, the cravings do go away pretty quickly once you get back under control.

Yesterday I did have a bit of a headache in the afternoon, but I attribute it to less water and a protein bar and a cheese stick for lunch... although I'm sure the carb withdrawl didn't help.  A couple of tylenol took care of it.  I used to get the worst migraines pre-op, but nothing but a rare nagging headache since...

I used to get migraines too and have only had one since surgery.  I was assuming that was just coincidence but I wonder if something about losing weight would get rid of migraines.

Did you have sleep apnea?  I sometimes wonder if resolution of that helped me, but it was almost immediate resolution so I'm not quite sure...

The no "starchy carbs" for a week thing, you mean?

Um...yeah. You might remember I pledged in solidarity to skip the PB since me and starchy carbs don't have that deep a relationship (incidentally on the day I say this my lunch was essentially starch but I digress...)

I misst he heck outta some PB but I have not touched any.

So there ya go.

Yeah, I meant no starchy carbs.  And I did remember you were cutting out the peanut butter instead, which is just fine.  I think it's great for people to customize the "rules" to meet their needs.  Just because bread and crackers are such a challenge for me, I know they aren't an issue for everyone.

Well I made an attempt to start today and did well until I had some popcorn. I waited too long to eat today. I bought some organic strawberries as a substitute for carbs and sugar. I feel much better today and getting in my protein. One day at a time........
