That's not my recipe. It's Eggface's (Shelly Vicari).

But I am in the process of TRYING to finalize my first book which will be a guide to making perfect protein shakes. :)

My donut weakness is the apple pie filled donut with the fudge topping and crushed nuts on top! When I was a recruiter I would meet with a group of students and I would stop by this mom and pop donut shop for donuts.
I would get 3 dozen of the donuts (a variety) and I would get a 1/2 dozen for myself and my hubby to have later in the day.
Of course, I would have had 2 of my favorites during the meetings with the students...and they did not come out of my PRIVATE stash.
Oh how I miss the apple pie filled donuts!
Nope, not gonna get one today!

I imagine you could use eggface's donut recipe and use a low-fat applesauce as the filler.

Ah...for apple fritter cravings I DO have a suggestion from my recipe coffers:

Or you could modify this recipe and use apples instead:

Mmmm.... Doughnuuuuuts...

I have had one or two bites of the center of my favorite custard filled doughnut from a local bakery about 3 times in the 5 years since my surgery.  The rest immediately goes into the trash or down the garbage disposal to be SURE that I don't eat any more because they still taste REALLY good to me! It might or might not cause me to dump, but -- more importantly -- it would probably lead to me getting back to wanting doughnuts a couple of times a week for breakfast.  Besides, if you can be satisfied (or at least mostly satisfied) with just a small bite or two, why ingest any more?  It does pain me, though, to drive past the Crispy Creme store when the "fresh doughnuts" light is on!

That doughnut (custard filled with chocolate icing) was the very last thing I had before I started my 2 days of liquids before my surgery.

Happy to say that donuts do not taste as heavenly as they once used too. I'm like Lora,If i want one I have a bite, toss the rest to the garbage disposal,or the dog... When I lived in PA we had a dunkin on every block it felt like. Now living in the sticks of GA,no donuts,anywhere.. This is a good thing..lol

Doughnut in my mind is "do not"!.  A potential food addiction and dumping trigger composed of a siren song of fried sugar, white flour and  yeast coated with more sugar.  Thinking of them that way make it about as attractive as a stick of dynamite!
