did I gain weight or what?

Yesterday I noticed my jeans, which are normally kinda loose on me, were not so loose.  They weren't tight, they were probably fitting the way they are supposed to fit, but they are normally loose.  This morning, that thought occurred to me and I decided to step on the scale, though I was a little bit hesitant because I was afraid I wasn't going to like what I saw.

142.  Last time I weighed myself, I was 136.  I know I'm always telling people it's normal for your weight to fluctuate a little but mine normally fluctuates between 134-135-136.  Not to 142.

Then I thought, maybe it was the IV fluids when I had my nerve block done yesterday.  Except I wasn't on an IV for very long,

Then I thought, maybe I am retaining water.  I feel sort of bloated.  I've had more salt than usual lately, so maybe that's it.  Can you tell I really want there to be a reason, other than I've eaten too many treats lately?

So just now I went to the bathroom and while I was in there, decided to get on the scale again.  I don't know why.  Hoping it would say 136 again, even though it said 142 just a few hours ago?  Yeah, right.

So I got on the scale.  It didn't say anything.  Didn't turn on.  I stepped off, then got back on.  It came on, and said 0.0.  Obviously that's not right.  So then I'm thinking, hey, maybe it said 142 earlier because something is wrong with it!  Yeah, that's it.

I tried one more time, though.  141.  Now I'm going to stop obsessing, until tomorrow, when I should have peed out any extra fluids from the  IV.

And today I am eating protein and veggies.  No treats.

I feel ya.  I go thru cycles where I fluctuate anywhere within a 10 lb range.  And boy, when I'm getting closer to the top of that 10, I can feel it.  It also coincides with hormones for me.

I had to giggle at all of your "justifications".  I try those too.  Usually the culprit for me is too much open mouth insert goodies!

Oh, I forgot about hormones!  Thanks for giving me one more excuse!  I started my period yesterday!

Did you try changing the batteries in your scale? Mine did that. It also gave me inaccurate readings when the batteries got low. Just sayin.

I didn't try that, but maybe I will.  I don't even know what kind of batteries it takes, but I bet I don't have any.  All I have is AA batteries, like for my mouse and my TV remote.  The scale must use something bigger than that, wouldn't you think?

And how come there are no size B batteries?  There is AAA, AA, then C and D.  Why'd they leave out the B?

Had to Google the B battery question.........

Before there were "chips", or even transistors, there were devices called vaccuum tubes which performed the same functions. In order to operate, tubes required two voltages: a low voltage to operate the "filament", or "heater", which generated heat necessary for the tube to operate, and a high voltage which actually did the work.

The low voltage battery in portable radios was called the "A" battery. The high voltage battery was called the "B" battery.

You can't find B batteries anymore because there is no need for them. So
there you have it!

I wish my scale were the culprit for my gain.  I just keep putting things in my mouth and swallowing them.

I need to cut out treats.  Grazing.  And just buckle down.

Well, I was doing more starchy carbs than normal, until very recently when I've been trying to cut back.  I sent my partner to the grocery store a couple times because my back has been so bad, and he came home with Cheezits and Triscuits.  I think I'm gonna have to start asking him to leave those things in his car, seriously.  Because if they are in the house, I can't stay away from them.  When I do the shopping, I don't buy that stuff.
