OT - I'm planning to try some melatonin tonight

I really need to get some sleep.  I've been having so much trouble with insomnia lately.  So today I picked up some melatonin, which, by the way, CVS has on sale buy one, get one free.  I feel nervous about it, though.  I really hope I don't feel hung over from it in the morning, but also I've had trouble with my prescription sleep meds lately (so I haven't been taking them, which is why I decided I need to try something else) making me feel really anxious when I get that very drugged feeling before falling asleep.  I hope it goes OK.

Good luck Kelly. Like you I either take trazadone or ambien to sleep, but sometimes I change it up and take the melatonin and it works nicely.  I don't have trouble falling asleep but I do have trouble stayin asleep.  I'm a very light sleeper which has only gotten worse since its just my daughter and I in the house alone. Once I wake up I have trouble shutting my brain off so I can get back to sleep.

Good luck. Melatonin is generally effective. It gives me intense dreams, but not necessarily bad ones. Sleep well!

Good luck Kelly! I take melatonin every night. It does not leave me drowsy in the morning at all. I can't take any other sleep meds, they make me feel like my skin is crawling. Melatonin makes me drift off calmly, which I like-other meds make me feel dopey!

I have bad allergies, and found that since I started taking one Benedryl at night about 1/2 hour before bed works great. It makes me sleepy but I do not feel drugged, and no hang over in the morning.

I have been thinking about trying it also. Just a little hesitant. Having trouble sleeping for a couple weeks now however never been a great sleeper. Need to do something though. Can't live on a few hours a sleep a night.

Melatonin is very mild.  the ped dr told me to give it to my adhd son to help him down at night.   he takes 12 mg (again approved my the dr).  one pill may not be enough so if it does not work the first night give it a second dose.   good luck
