Another surgery
RNY on 06/11/12
RNY on 05/07/12
I just wish the doctors would take the gallbladder out automatically, because this is a big issue for most people having the RNY. It seems so many are having to turn around in a short period of time and have their gallbladders out. I had mine taken out with my RNY because I had one stone which was detected in the sonogram before surgery, so even based on one stone, out it came. I wish you luck and you will feel better I am sure once it is done. Keep us posted. Best Wishes, Jane
been there done that.. i had mine out friday.. you will do fine with surgery.. they will give you good pain killers.. they got me on percecet, they were gona put me on hydracodone but found out a couple of days after taking it to help with the pain until surgery found out i was allergic to it.. they had wanted me to wait until after the 24th but it eventualy got worse and i couldnt wait anymore... freindly advice some hospitals do this as an outpatient surgery, if u cant tollerate pain verry well like i can, i dont do pain verry well, say something to the surgeon that maybe you want to stay over night they give you the p.c.a (pain managment machine pump) and they can controll the apin while you are there the first day will be bad.. im not trying to scare you.. im just speaking from experience of having a appendix out and now a gall baldder out.. but i wish you luck on your gall bladder surgery and you will do great..
I wish you the best. I agree with Jane. I dont understand why surgeons dont just take them out when you have your RNY, You are only 3 months out and have to have another surgery.
May I ask - were you given the medication Actigall or Uridisol post op to try to prevent gallstones post op? Also, did you have a sonogram as part of your preop work up to see the condition of your gallbladder prior to your RNY? This should be done for all preops so that if you have anything wrong, even the slightest - sludge, 1 stone, enlargement - it should be required since it is only going to get worse with rapid weightloss. Then if no abnormalities, I guess it should be up to the patient, not the surgeon. Let the patient decide if they want to risk having to go through 2 surgeries or just take it out at one time. Granted the surgery is longer but still safer than having to have 2 separate surgeries.
I do hope all goes well and everything is uneventful for you. YOu are really early out all should go great.
