I took it in pill form.  It did not seem to have any effect on my hair regrowth, though, so I kept increasing the dosage... until I started growin excess facial hair on my cheeks, jawline, and upper lip!  (Yet, somehow, I still did not notice any increase in the rate of growth of the hair on my head!)  The excess facial hair, which is somewhat common, is permanent, BTW (so be on the lookout for it).

Many people don't experience the excess hair growth, but there is also no scientific evidence that taking biotin will help with hair re-growth unless you are deficient to begin with.  I have to admit that it is a drag to have to bleach the hair on those areas of my face to keep the hair from being noticeable (and my hair is not terribly dark naturally).  You can certainly try taking it... just keep an eye on the other hair and discontinue the biotin right away if you do start to notice any.

Several women in my support groups have reported more hair growth than just on their head.  Hairy legs, hairy arms, facial hair, arm pits...It likely won't do much for preventing hair loss, but may give you "more hair" than you expected. DAVE

I'm using the pill form so I may end up a hairy monkey.   One of my girlfriends suggested it because she believes it helped her regrowth.  My hair is so thin that I'm using it out of desperation.

There are shampoos with Bioin in the ingredients.  I was hoping to give it a try.

No external shampoo is going to help limit hair loss or make it grow faster.   The only thing a vitamin in a shampoo or conditioner can do is help keep the hair hydrated and, potentially, stronger.

For anyone who does not know, the hairloss (called telogen effluvium)  is caused by many more hairs than normal entering the resting phase (instead of being in the growing phase) because of physical stress from the surgery and so little nutrition, and no vitamin shampoo is going to effect the body releasing the hair from the follicles.
