Fruit and Vegetetables - 2 years out
RNY on 05/09/12
When I went to solid food at 2 months out, my NUT said I could have vegetables and fruits as long as I had my 70% protein first. I have been having about a half cup of mixed salad with most meals in the evening/dinner. I have had no problems with them at all. I think they keep my regular in the BM department. I have not had much fruit, just a slice of a peach now and then. I have not had the pouch room for much. The salad does not seem to take much pouch at all and I love it. I am now 3 months out and pretty much know what I can and can not eat and of course I measure, weigh, and log everything like a religion.

I love fruits and vegetables. Typically one of my six daily meals has a lot of veggies, like a big salad, or sliced bell peppers with hummus. At least in the summer when lots of fresh fruit is in season, a snack might be just fruit, like a cup of raspberries or strawberries. I also put fruit in Greek yogurt and I put some veggies, like diced onion or diced tomato, in all kinds of dishes, like chili and stews.
Yeah, we get some nutritional benefits from fruits and veggies. Not enough that we don't need to take vitamins, but some. And many fruits and veggies have fiber, which helps you feel full and also helps you poop regularly.
