Got my surgery date!

I know it's been quie awhile since I posted here but I wanted to share my joy.
I got my surgery date finally!! October 3! It was quite the battle to get my psych report released in order to submit my paperwork for insurance approval. I had to threaten legal action.
I'm just so happy and grateful to be beginning this journey towards good health!

That is so exciting !! I swear that the process to GET the surgery is worse than having the surgery !!!
Why wouldn't they release your psych eval??? isn't the reason you had it was for the insurance approval???

Good for you! I had to 'prompt' my insurance many times as well and it is worth the effort.

I am 2+ years out and can honestly tell you that having the surgery is on the top 5 list of the best things I've ever done in my life (after daughter, grandkids, etc.)

Coming back to OH after a while not posting and reading all the posts has reinspired me to post and read much more.

The psych eval thing was just nuts...no pun intended. I had gone to UCONN for it, and although I signed every paper for them to release it to my clinical coordinator/surgeon's office, they refused to. Kept saying it was "sensitive information". Uh huh, sure. So then I tried to get a copy myself but they wouldn't allow me to access my own records. Since that's illegal, I did have to threaten legal action. Apparently the magic word isn't "please" but "lawyer".

Now all this finally feels real to me. I'm really enjoying my last week before my pre-op diet. I'm also finding it's the little thigns that are making me even happier that I chose to do this. I was clearing out the coat closet and found my old spring jacket that I just adore but haven't been able to wear in about 4 years. Knowing that I will likely be able to wear it next spring is just so awesome! I'm so glad I never got rid of it!
