Hair Loss--what's a girl to do?
Biotin will do nothing to STOP the loss but will encourage REGROWTH. Extra protein will also not help, but NOT getting enough protein can make the hair loss WORSE... So be sure you are getting enough.
As most people indicated, the most frequent solution is a short or shorter haircut. I lost half my hair volume and cut 6 inches off in order to make my hair loss less noticeable. It will grow back.

14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained
You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Lora I didn't start really looking hair until about 4 months out. I ak 10 mo out and loose more every time I shower. I drink 2 protein shakes per day...3 meals with some protein. A snack between...sometimes not protein sometimes fruit or crackers with peanutt butter in it. I take vitamins.
Any ideas to start to reverse this??

I was anticipating hair loss so I consulted with my beautician and she started having me use the shampoo and conditioner and scalp treatment called SURFACE:AWAKEN 2 weeks before surgery. You can get it in a salon or online. Expensive $50 per set but I will gladly pay it then risk losing my hair. I have used NIXON products in the past and those work as well
My beautician is well aware of my surgery and my hair sheds alot. Everyone says that my hair is pretty, but I notice it and I am not happy about it. I rather be skinny with short hair instead of fat with long hair. I just want to be healthy. I go to the salon every week and my beautician has special shampoo and conditioner for me and I also take biotin. The hair is still faliing out but not as much.
As stated, Biotin will help with regrowth........but it will also make hair grow all over your body more, not just your head!
I lost hair from month 4-10, and lost about 1/3 of my hair...but I have very thick hair, so it wasn't really noticable. I cut it shorter and layered it.
It is all grown back and thicker than ever now!
And really, who knows if Biotin or Nioxin REALLY work? You'd have to do a comparison of results with it vs results without it.........I tried both, and honestly think I wasted my money...and the Biotin made the fuzz on my face much worse!

I have hereditary hair-loss too... My hair started falling out last week from the surgery. It's really really thin now.
Going into this surgery I realized that "normal" tips wouldn't work for my hair because it's SOO thin. I'm going to need to buy a wig, but that's okay with me. I'm happy with my weight loss.
I use a product called Toppik. I buy it online at SpencerForrest.com. But I think you can buy it at Sally's Beauty Salon. It's a powder like substance that you "sprinkle" on your scalp. It covers bald spots wonderfully & you can't tell there's anything in your hair. I've been using it for many many years and got my sister to use it too (she also has thin hair). The Joan Rivers product that someone suggested doesn't cover well if you have a lot of hair loss.
With that product, I'm able to keep my hair long or short and style it like normal. I HIGHLY suggest it to anyone with major hair loss.
Hope this helps!
