What's YOUR motivation?
RNY on 08/14/12
A mix of upbeat music and the fact that I need to do it. Its also how I get myself motivated for the rest of the day. I run first thing in the morning. If I wake up and feel like being lazy I'll just remind myself that I need to do it if I want to continue being heathy and lose weight.
A playlist of upbeat music really helps a lot. I just downloaded "Hall of Fame" by The Script. It is incredibly motivational and inspiring, not to mention upbeat. Songs like that make me run further and faster.

I find that taking classes at the gym make it easier to exercise. If I work out on my own, I quit when ever I want, but being in a class makes me work harder. Someone else there is going to quit before I do! LOL
I also like making before and current photos on my computer's paint program. I do it every 15 pounds or so.

Register for a race that is a bit beyond your current level and then train!
I registered for Ironman Augusta 70.3 before I could swim 100m non stop and 10 min on a bike winded me. A year of hard work later resulted in 1.2 mile swim 56 mile bike and a 13.1 mile run in 7.5 hours.

I get a kickback from my insurance company if I hit the gym only 8 times a month. I never have enjoyed working out, but boy does my body feel happier when it's done, and that's truly worthwhile!! I have been exersizing regularly for most of my adulthood, but really made a commitment about 5 years ago that this was something I just need to do, no whining allowed!
I have a knee that needs replaced so I don't exercise other than my recumbent bike a few times a week as I can tolerate, BUT... I can tell you what I use to motivate myself to continue to make good food choices (which could also be applied to exercise).
I remember how hard it was to do simple things when I had a BMI of 57 -- just walking a few blocks would completely wind me (as would a single flight of stairs); I couldn't tie my shoes without sitting down and pulling my foot up onto something; I had to hire someone to mow my lawn since I couldn't mow the hill portion because the weight put too much stress on my knee -- and how hard it was psychologically -- I was always worried about how (or whether) I would fit in chairs, stadium or theater seats, restaurant booths, etc,; the stares and cruel comments of strangers; hating how I looked and felt; having to pass on social activities because of my physical limitations.
I then look at how all those stresses are gone now because I have lost the weight, and I remind myself of how easily I could face a significant regain if I don't remain vigilant about my food choices. THAT gives me the motivation. I don't ever want to go back to even 200 pounds let alone 330!!

14 years out; 190 pounds lost, 165 pound loss maintained
You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
Boobs could be a good motivation. Lots of wimmen here complain that they knockers lose the knock and end up looking like a tube sock. every time you workout put money in a jar to get ya new BOOBIEZ!
