Overwhelmed by new eating habits
Take it day by day and strive to get to that goal.I don't think any of us were able to get in all the liquids or protein right away. Remember you may not reach it everyday, especially in the beginning but it's a goal and takes time to get to the point where it's all easier. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done as you find you are obtaining your goal easier and easier.
I can't see how long ago you had your surgery, but I assume from your post that it is pretty recently. Hang in there, it gets easier and eventually becomes almost natural. In the beginning, I kept a bottle of water with me at all times (except the 1/2 hour after eating so I wouldn't be tempted). That helped me just keep sipping. I ate by the clock, every 3-4 hours, so I wouldn't forget. The pills are something that really takes some getting used to. Some people use the fancy pill organizers and and app on their phone to remind them. What worked for me in the beginning was going to my "pill cabinet" every morning and taking out all my pills (vitamins and calcium, too) for that whole day. I would take my morning pills right there and put the rest in my pockets. Them jingling around in my pocket all day reminded me to take them so by end of day, they were all gone when I took my pants off for bed. Since I have become less mobile with a hip injury, I do the same, but put them in a little bag in my purse so it reminds me each time I go in there for my phone or lotion or wallet... Just keep looking for the habit that will help make it stick for you. Eventually, it will become second nature. Good luck!
Can I ask why you are taking 3 Tums daily? As long as this is not for your calcium requirements (it is the wrong kind) - feel free to tell me to mind my own business.
You need to be taking Calcium Citrate 500mg, 3 times a day ...
This will all become completely normal for you as time goes on - I promise you!

It might help to make yourself a schedule.
I'm wondering why you're only taking two vitamins. Are those your multivitamins? Where's your calcium, iron and B12?

It is overwhelming at first, but like everyone says, it does get easier. I put little stars on my appointment schedule at work to remind me to take calcium during the day, and take my vitamins with breakfast and dinner.
I've also found that if I can get 16 oz or so of water down while I'm getting ready for work in the morning, I make sure I have it down before leaving for work. It isn't hard to sip while putting on makeup, checking the computer, packing lunch, etc. It's much less of a burden to face 6 servings of water throughout the day rather than 8.
Good luck!
Whoever said upthread one day at a time is right. Try your best. If you don't get it all in, try again tomorrow, and again, and again. Eventually it starts to happen. Might take a while.
Here's a post I did on fiting it all in as a newbie on my blog:
