after just seeing a post about hair loss....  is there anyone that took all their vitamins and didn't lose any of their hair.  when I brought it up with my nutritionist she said as long as I follow the diet and take my vitamins there shouldn't be much if any hair loss...   did anyone take biotin and did that help?

I heard biotin isn't good to take unless you want hair to grow everywhere. I am only about two months out (according to my nut, this is the time where it starts) I haven't loss any hair yet. I still dye my hair as well. Not everyone loses their hair, just like everyone doesn't get zits... It's a chance we take but in the end it is wroth it. Hope that helps

I took all my vitamins religiously, and made sure I got in all my protein, every day.   I still lost a good deal of hair.   I lost a lot after every c-section too, if that makes you feel any better.

the main thing is to make sure you get enough protien.  You can take bioten but some say it doesn't help.  I had very minimal hair loss but i made sure i got my protien in.  if i started losing some i always go back to basics and up my protien!!!

I started taking Biotin about a month before my RNY and continued as soon as I could start taking vitamins, I had some thinning but never had any bald spots and very minimum loss. My hair grew right back in no time. My friend on the other hand did not take any biotin and she had bald spots.

I didn't lose any hair.

That being said....I really don't think that I did things any better than others that did lose hair. Yes, I did take all my vitamins, got in my protein and followed my plan, but so did many others that suffered from some hair loss. If you are going to lose hair I really don't think that there is anything that is going to stop it from happening IMO.

I have every thick hair and have not lost any or at least nothing noticeable. I was actually going to ask that question on here today. I am two months out so if I was going to lose my hair when would it start? ( I thought of it because I went to get my hair cut today and usually have them thin it out)

Hair loss generally starts sometime during the 3rd or 4th month post op and usually lasts 4-5 months.

Google Telogen Effluvium - losing hair isn't about protein or vitamins ... and nothing you take or do will affect whether you lose hair and how much you lose!

I have never had any perceptible hair loss with any of my surgeries - it's just the luck of the draw - some do and some don't!

I did not lose much hair.  I started taking Biotin prior to surgery and continued after.  Biotin does not stop hair loss,  it helps regrowth. Protein is the important thing to keep hair loss at a minimum.  Very few people loose so much that it is noticable to anyone other than themselves.
