Oh My Oh My Oh My...

I finally went to talk to my PCM in September regarding RNY/Gastric Bypass (after "thinking about it" for four years).

Today, my pre-appointments are complete and they are sending it up to insurance today or tomorrow.  OMG

I am on such a roller coaster of emotions right now.  Excited, Scared, IMPATIENT, worried, exstatic, and everything in between. So, my question of the day is, How long did it take for your pre-auth to come back?  Anyone with FEP BCBS?  Grrr, I just want to scream.

7 days from submittal to the doctor's office receiving the approval. (That included a weekend!)

Good luck to you on your journey and all of the emotions you are feeling right now are normal!

I had BCBC of AZ at the time and it took about a week. Congratulations, you are on your way!

I had HMO Blue (BCBS) and mine came back in a day, of course they sent it in on a Friday and it was a holiday weekend. I am not good at being patient!!

You should have no problem getting approved. I had United Health Care and was told it would take 2 weeks but I heard from the insurance in 6 days. Hopefully you will get a quick answer!

I have FEP BCBS and I found out the next day when my surgeon's office called to schedule my surgery because they had a cancelation for the next week.

Thank you all for your responses. I can only hope that my response comes through as quickly as all of yours did. Time for this journey to get a move on.

My response came back in 10 days. Also - just wanted to say good job for being sure and 'thinking about it' for 4 years.  You really have to be ready before you have this surgery and it sounds like you are.
