I HATE this liquid diet! I want real food!
No i am not hungry. BUT i have been on liquids since Monday March 4th and then my 2 wk very low calorie diet prior. I am going crazy seeing food everywhere TV, In person, etc.. and smelling it uhg! I just want to be able to eat real food again. I have my post-op nutrition appt on Tuesday and will be likely moved up to pureed for another couple of weeks... at least that has some actual food though. Chicken broth, SF pudding/yogurt, popsicles, and Italian ice isn't doing it for me anymore so bored with it! Found out last night not even 2 wks post-op that i dump on cream of wheat so that is out! How did you all get through with over a month before you had whole food again?
I hear you about the food thing but this process isn't for sissies. You have to remember your ultimate goal. Ever heard that saying, "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!"? I I have watched others around me eat the things I loved eating before my surger (I'm only 12 days post op) but I know in my head that if I even attempted to try and eat what they are eating, I would get seriously sick. I already know that in just a few short weeks, I will be eating some real food again. I know it seems torturous but keep in mind the reasons why you started this journey. Access the nutritionistas much as you can and tell them what you are struggling with.
Hope you find some solutions. Don't suffer without support!
I did not have a pre-op liquid diet OR an extended period of liquids post-op (thankfully!), but I tried a VLC liquid diet program a number of years ago, and I had a terrible time with wanting to CHEW something! Just try to hang in there and keep your eyes on the long-term goal.
It is unlikely that such a small amount of cream of wheat would cause dumping (unless you added sugar to it). It probably simply did not agree with you.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I am having surgery on Wednesday, and I am on my 10 day pre-surgery diet. I am over chicken breast and salads. I had a potato last night (approved of course) and it was the best potato I have ever had in my life!!! My family had pizza the other night and it was probably the hardest meal I have ever had to sit through. I wanted to cry. It was then I realized that my love affair with food is over . I keep trying to look at the big picture, that in the long run I will be healthier for me and my family. Keep your head up..you will get through this.
I had a hard time with it also. Partly because I enjoyed cooking on the weekend. Someone suggested to me that I try some warmed liquid food. Flavored tea's and I made home made soup but only had the broth portion of it. The warm liquids seem to help more than the cold ones. Plus, any homemade broth/soup you make has less salt too.
My Dr. also told me that most complications are in the first several months when your pouch is still trying to heal. He was supper strict on what his patients can eat and he said that is because he wants everything to heal properly.
My veggie soup recipe is a version of the WW soup plus, I add more tomato paste and other veggie that I love. If you want the receipe let me know.
