X-Post: Rock & Roll Half Marathon.... DONE!
I'll need to update my ticker once the official time is posted on their website, but according to my Garmin, I hit a PR by a long way! Did stop the clock during the LONG ASS port-a-potty line but made an average pace of 9:40 with total time of 2:08:59..... A-MAZE-BALLS!!!!! I'm so proud of me.... Got one more Half on June 1st (where I don't expect to PR because I'm mentoring for that run, so just trying to get my mentees across the finish line!) and marathon training starts in May for Marine Corps in Oct.
Thanks to all for their prayers for a good run today!!!!!
Rock & Roll USA Half-Marathon Sat, Mar 16, 2013 8:11 AM Eastern Time (US & Canada) By nfarris79 Activity Type: Running | Event Type: Race | Course: -- Awesome race! Ran first 4-5 miles with Melissa, had to stop for LOOOONG line at portapotty and spent the rest of the race trying to catch up with her - apparently I passed her! Took a GU at mile 10, only 1 walking water break for 30 sec. Only did 3 of the water stops, drank entire 20oz handheld. Didn't rain afterall!!! Like · Comments (0) PreviousNext

If you're not already engaged in a training program (online, from your local specialty shoe store, thru a charity), consider following one. They lay out what to do, how much, etc. My main advice is don't do anything new - what's worked for you in training will work for you on race day! Walkers/hikers seem to swear by Thorlo socks, but they'd given me blisters in running so I use Injinji technical socks (they're like gloves for your toes, to prevent blisters). Good luck!
