Needing suggestions for straw like hair
I've had 3 surgeries in the past year & the most recent was Jan 15th of this year & my hair is starting to fall out again, which I expected it to. Just seems like this time around my hair is looking strawy. I feel like I look like a scarecrow sometimes. Lol Is there anything that I can use in my hair to help with this? Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.
More fat in your diet will probably help. A deep conditioner might also be useful. I had my hair burned by a bad perm a number of years ago and it was very dry and damaged and found that the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle conditioner every 2 or 3 days really helped.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I have very long, and farily thick hair...and was not able to get it braided before surgery so a couple days later I had the world's biggest, scariest rat's nest. I'm talking frankenhair here. My Angel went to a beauty supply store and told my tale of woe and she was recommended something I'd never used before called "10". You can buy it at Fred Meyers (they are also called Kroger's elsewhere) stores. I mixed some with water in a spray bottle and managed to get my hair back to normal in less than a day.
Now the reason I'm telling you all this is because of the fantastic side effect. Having the hair I have (I'm 57 years old, with long hair so I'm sure you can guess), I've tried a lot of different things to keep it healthy (and I agree a bit of fat in the diet helps), but this one is the best I've ever used. My hair hasn't looked this good since I was a teenager. I only put a little on top and concentrate the spray thru the rest of my hair as it's drying after a wash. Might be worth trying - and I have no financial interest in this, just a suggestion from anther former straw-head!
I have used the "10" before as well. It's great stuff!!

I agree with the others. Add more fat and try something on your hair, too. I also recommend sleeping on a satin pillowcase.

Your shampoo can make a huge difference, too. I use Wen hair care products, but I understand that there is another similar, much less expensive product called Say Yes to the Cucumber or Say Yes to the Carrot. These shampoos do not have sulfites or other harmful chemicals and they don't even foam up when you use them. They condition your hair beautifully and leave it feeling very soft and silky. I lost around half of my hair and felt I was looking fried, but these products helped a lot. Good luck!
The best product by far for dry, straw-like hair is COCONUT OIL. The results are unbelievable. Either a small dab (very small maybe 1/4 tsp) in your hair before you wa**** or if you forget before, just a small dab while your hair is wet. It really works wonders. Coconut oil also good for skin, in baking, frying, in coffee, on bread, great for your mind (some say wards off Alzheimers). May be gotten at vitamin shops or online or I hear some Costcos have it. Do an online search on it. So many have touted the good benefits of coconut oil.

I agree with all of the above on product for your hair. How are your labs? Vitamin A deficiency can cause brittle hair and dry skin. I take 25,000 units of vitamin A per week. Before I found out that I was deficient...I had hair that felt like straw and no amount of lotion would help my dry skin. You have to go by your labs because vitamin A is fat soluble ..... you can overdose on it.
