Day 11 & still STALLing! WTH?!?

So it has been 24 DAYS since my surgery and for the most part I am healing well.  Still sore in the lower left side of my stomach and of course with all the bruising, it looks a lot worse than it is.  The main concern, however, is that I am now on DAY 11 of my stall.  It is driving me absolutely nuts.  I understand there will be stalls, but almost 2 weeks?  Seriously?  That is 1/2 the amount of time since I had my surgery.  I am really getting frustrated, cannot eat anything good, get the "foamies" everything I try to swallow anything larger than a pea, busting my a%* exercising and for what, nothing.  To say I am already starting to regret this surgery is an understatement.

What is wrong with me?

Yes, there will be stalls. A real stall can be 4-5 weeks. Or more.  Just follow the plan and hang in there, you can do it

I'm just under 2 weeks out and I stalled for 5 or 6 days after the first week.  I started upping my protein from 70 g to 85 yesterday and I had lost a lb today! Try upping your protein, most people say to try for 100 if youre in a stall

increasing Protein?  My plan never specifically said how much protein I should be taking in nor have I calculated as much.  If I had to guess, I had maybe 30g or so today?  100?  How in the heck can I take in 100?

Oh man :( The protein is really important after this surgery.  I just had mine on 3/20/13, but girl you gotta get yourself some protein!  It helps with weight loss and it's going to help you not lose a lot of hair.

Get yourself some 100% whey isolate protein.  I use syntrax nectar (i like chocolate truffle and vanilla, but they have fruity flavors too..)

I mix mine with 8 oz of over the moon milk, it has 11g of protein i/o 8 like regular milk.  One scoop of protein and 8oz of milk makes me a 34g protein shake.  Today I had two of these, bc I am trying to increase my protein.  I have had a really great time healing, other than nausea, I haven't had much issues (knock on wood!!!!!).

In addition to that I'm on pureed food at this point, and I also ate approx 2/3 of the pack of quaker weight control oatmeal made with that same milk, for about 10g of protein.  At 'dinner' I had 2oz of turkey w/ fat free gravy.  1oz of meat = 7g protein so all in all I had 92g of protein today.

Its really important that you start getting more protein, it's the best source of food we can get, it has the most nutritional value and since we can't eat much we need to make sure what we are eating counts!

100 grams of protein is not conceivable at a few weeks out u less you are drinking shakes then that might not even be doable. Many people to through the first mini stall at week 3 some lasting 2-4 weeks then bam you'll see a good loss

Did you take your measurements? If not do it now and watch the inches disappear. That is just as much motivation when the scale isn't being friendly.

Thank you all! I do think that I need more protein. My surgeon packets indicated 3-4 puréed meals per day with protein but never discussed amount of protein, etc. my healing has been slow and I have been tired quite often. I am starting to wonder if I'm not getting enough nutrients that my body thinks I am starving and is holding on to my weight? I did notice today, however, that my jeans were loose to the point I have to role them under half way thru the day because I kept having to pull them up. So maybe I am losing just not on the scale. I dunno. I lost almost 30lbs the 1week and then nothing since. I guess if you look at it on the 8th will be a month and 30lbs in a month is great. right?

Alison, you are doing great if you've lost that much in just 24 days!  That's what I've lost in 7 weeks (but I am 57 so I expect it to be slow).  It sounds like you have a plan to get your protein up...when I was on purees or now when I have soup, I add unflavored protein powder to increase it.  Every little bit helps and when you can't take in much to begin with, it really helps!  :)

Sounds like you are off to a good start, good luck!

You body is going through shock right now, and much of the initial weight loss is what they call water weight.

I would not weigh yourself more then once a week if the scale drives you nuts. What you should do every day is follow your doctors orders as closely as you can stand.
