My fiancée wants to take me out for date night. We normally go to Applebees or TGIFridays. Any ideas on what to order? I was thinking fish, chicken, or shrimp.

Pick something you've eaten before and know you usually tolerate well.  If it has any kind of sauce on it or something like that, look up the nutritional info online before you go to make sure it's pretty low in fat and sugar.  Restaurants are good at hiding fat and sugar in stuff you'd think would be healthy.  Don't be shy about asking questions or making special requests about how they prepare it, too.

Eat a small amount, a little less than you think you can tolerate.  It's easy to accidentally eat too much and puking in public restrooms is just gross.  Trust me, I've had to do it.

Have a nice dinner!

How far out are you?  Eat your protein first, and you should be fine.  If they have an appetizer portion of what you want, get that, so you don't have as much food left over.  Or, order the entree size and you should have enough left over to 2 or 7 meals.  But most importantly, enjoy your date!!!

I always ask for a box when my food comes and place all food more than what I should eat into it right away. That way I don't lose track and eat too much. Just relax and have fun. You will do fine.

I had a small steak dinner at Applebees when we went there.  So far, I've not had any problem with any meats or seafoods.
Also, what I find helpful is the separate your portion to a side of the plate, eat only that and then you can get a box to take the rest home.  The dinner that I got was enough for about 3 meals.

Can I suggest that you put your surgery date on your profile?   It's very difficult to give someone advice when we don't know if you are one month, one year or ten years out of surgery.

I would go for the fish or shrimp.

At TGI Fridays, I get the grilled chicken cobb salad and focus on the toppings. I do ranch on the side and sometimes just use a small amount to dip the chicken in. (I've never been a big dressing fan anyway so that's enough for me). It has more toppings on it than I need and I find it very satisfying. Both places have steak options as well and veggies as options for your sides. Go slow and plan on leftovers or share a meal. Have fun!

I don't do Applebys but at TGIF's I get the Habachi Tapa-Tizer skewers. It's just enough food and great protein. Have fun!

My wife and I go to Applebees all the time. I take my scale with me. If a salad comes with your meal, have them bring it bare, no dressing or have it on the side and set that aside until you have your protein. Cut off 2.5 to 3 ounces of the 7 oz steak.  Here it is called the 2 for $20 steak special.  Eat that first. Have the rest put in a box for dinner the next day. Eat a little of the veges that come with it, or the salad. Just a bite of the potato and that is it.  Nothing else. Aks them to NOT put any water on the table so you will not be tempted to drink while eating. Woks for me at all places I go to, including a very fine place, but expensive I went to on Easter.
