I had a drain while in the hospital. I hated it! It caused the worst pain! Once it got removed it was instant relief. My incisions were glued shut with steri strips over them.

I had a drain for about 2 days, taking it out was excruciatingly weird, I don't even know if it was painful it just felt so WRONG, probably the worst thing that happened to me in the hospital.  My incisions were also glued shut and they are all scabbed now but I haven't taken the glue off because I don't want to mess anything up.

Glue, no drain, steri strips over the incisions. The steri strips caused a reaction (itchy, red raised welts) but I was told that was common and nothing to worry about. I was allowed to shower by the time I left the hopital, but no soaking in bath tubs or swimming for several weeks.

I had sutures that dissolve inside and sutures that needed removed on the outside. My body rejected the ones that dissolve! I had a drain and pain ball for a few days.

I have had about 8 different surgeries since 2004 and every single one of them have had all incisions glued. That way there are no unsightly small hole scars (from staples or sutures) alongside the incision scar(s).  I am therefore surprised when people mention that they HAVE staples, etc.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
