Never ever ANY ice cream, even a dab, ever again?
I have had ice cream on a couple of occasions but the dumping is sooooo NOT worth it ... I don't eat cake for the same reason and dont miss either - like negative reinforcement!
It's a crapshoot because I know some vets eat it on occasion and have no problems!

Ok folks, this is for me, so don’t get upset with me. I don’t take a lick of ice cream or anything like it for the same reason I don’t just take a sip of Jack Denials, a drag on a cigarette, a spoonful of pasta, or a slice of bread. All these things have caused me big problems in the past and, again for me, once I remind myself how much I love those things a sip or bite or what ever becomes a bigger sip, or two drags on a cigarette and a bowel of pasta.
In my 71 years the pattern is the same, if I start just having a little, I wind up having it more often. FOR ME it is just better to develop a love for other things that will not cause me problems.
I currently have a menu plan that gives me plenty of good things to eat each day including snacks that I can live happily with for the rest of my life without torturing myself by contently reminding myself of things I used to like to have.
I would love to think I can eat like a normal person, but I am not a normal person, my body is very sensitive to some foods and no matter how much I want to eat some foods like a normal person, it will cause me to gain where what some people think is a normal person can eat them often and not gain a pound. So no matter what I have to remember that I am not a normal person what ever that is.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with your attitude. You know what works for you and you stick with that. Recognizing your triggers or addictions is just good self-evaluation. And as long as you're happy with your meal plan and lifestyle, that's really all that matters.

How could anyone get upset with such an honest answer? I'm so proud of you, Larry - not only do you have the insight to know what works best for you, you have the wisdom to know it might not work for everyone!

Hi, Angie! I do eat a small amount of ice cream once in awhile. If I eat too much, I get terribly sick, so my body keeps me in check. If you can handle it, a small treat once in awhile will not sabotage your weight loss. Just be aware that some people can be "triggered" by a small amount which leads to binging and weight gain, especially for those who don't dump. You know yourself better than we do, so do what you feel is right!

The only way to know if you dump is to dump. However, I don't know anyone that ever landed in the hospital due to dumping.
