poll about food intolerances
I can't do milk. I used to love milk before surgery, but now it makes me sick. It causes dumping syndrome for me. So, no yogurt or ice cream for me. It's probably a good thing because I used to like cookies or brownies with my milk. LOL. I do miss having some Greek yogurt every now and then, but it just isn't worth the consequences. If hubby is eating it, I can tolerate a bite of his and be okay.
Pasta and rice sit really heavy on my tummy so I don't eat it often, and when I do, I just eat a little bit. I love gumbo, but instead of eating rice with it, I do "fake" rice by crumbling cauliflower and sauteeing it in a little olive oil. Does pretty well as a rice substitute.
First, from a Quest Protein bar (peanut butter flavor one)- took 1 tiny bite and I was done, very sad for me since so many rave about them.
Second time was from reduced fat cheddar cheese.
Third time was from Dannon light and fit greek yogurt.
Needless to say, all of those foods I now stay far, far away from!
Good string of responses here! Ice cream makes me sick, even the "light" or frozen greek yogurt in small portions. Pork sits in my stomach like a brick. Oh and collard greens makes me run to the bathroom, explosively! I tolerate most other foods well. I dont really have pasta, potatoes, rice, etc so no idea what that would do to mel
All of my problems are with dumping (so thankful that I have it, though!). Peaches, Oranges, some Sugar Alcohols and Sugar-Free preserves have all caused dumping for me. Obviously I haven't tried any actual sugar and never will (unless by accident).
My pouch, itself, is a real trooper. She hasn't met a food yet that doesn't agree with her :-)
I dump on things high in sugar. Sometimes very fatty or greasy things upsets my stomach a little. Pasta and cereal with milk feels heavy and uncomfortable in my pouch, but I can eat them, they just don't feel very good.
Later, maybe tomorrow, I'll go through this thread and tally up how many people can't tolerate various things.
