Poll about your bariatric surgeon and steroids

If you know, what does your bariatric surgeon say about steroids?   Does he or she recommend avoiding them or does he or she say it is OK to take them?  I'm talking about steroids here, not NSAIDS.

Mine said steroids were fine.

Mine agrees with the ASMBS that they are fine.  I have only heard of the one person who was told no steroids, so I will be interested to see if anyone else was told that.

I'm just curious now to see how many surgeons recommend no steroids.  I'm wondering if it's a more common recommendation than I thought itwas.

My surgeon and pcp both said steroids were fine, actually recommended treatment for tennis elbow.

Mine said no to steroids but when I got sick he said to take them just be sure and eat first.  I have had at least 6 rounds of them since I had my surgery, I had a very bad allergic reaction last year and was on them for six weeks.  I had no problem.

So he initially said not to take them, but then changed his mind and said they were OK?

He told me if I was sick, I was sick and I could take them. So yes, I guess you could say he changed his mind.  I have just recently had to find a new doctor and she is against them being taken, but if I need them I will take them.  My PCP says he can't figure out why he didn't want me to take them and he does go to WLS seminars and stays up on things.

Mine has never told me to avoid steroids, although she did make a huge deal out of avoiding NSAID drugs.

I've had many rounds of steroids post op, and my surgeon said it was fine. Ive been prescribed pills and have had too many injections to count. The only thing I will not take is Prednisone, but that's only because I become very very angry while taking it. Actually, I have scared family members hike on it..,
