Drinking after meals........
According to my surgeon and based on my own 6 years of experience (and nothing more... I have not done any research on this), it takes about 30 minutes on average for the food to empty out of our pouch, so that is the basis for the 30 minute restriction. I assume that some surgeons say to wait an hour just to be certain that even very dense foods (which would empty more slowly) have already emptied on their own before we start drinking.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I was told 30 and I still stick to it today. Why? Watch this video on YouTube. The messy kitchen was distracting (shudder) to me, but the message is great!!

Oh, definitely. I think maybe my post came across the wrong way (in one of my rare attempts at brevity). I was just lamenting that there isn't anything out there that would explain any advantage to waiting longer than 30 minutes. Sorry if my remark came off as being critical... was not intended that way at all!
