Any tips? I'm taking my own water so I'll have that in addition to the water stations.

Since you're walking, stay to the rear of the starters/to the right.  I do a run/walk, and stopped jogging to do a walk interval, and I learned quickly that I was in the wrong place on my first one.  Don't be afraid to ask the folks at the start if they have an area for walkers.

You have your water to sip.  Does your 5k definitely have water stations?  (A lot of them in my area don't, but it looks like you're in Florida, so they probably will.)

Smile and thank the workers who are holding signs/flags/working stations.

Have fun!

I did my second 5k on a day when it was 34 degrees and WINDY.  It was a hilly course, and there were other activities on the trail that day, (plus, there was a place to stop and pee!  I had to go!)  My husband and kids were waiting, and...I was the very last person to cross the finish line. (Not a lot of casual walkers on a freezing cold January day, and I saw several people turn around before the first mile.)  I had to sort through my feelings of being the very last person to finish as I was alone behind the field house (the finish was on the high school track.)  My 7 year old was waiting in the middle of the football field, clearly looking for me.  So, I resolved to hold my head up, and finish strong.  My daughter likes to catch me for the last 50 yards and hold my hand and run with me to finish.  So, I did.  I finished ahead of everyone who turned around when it got tough.  And someone has to be last.  (Although, with my potty break, I still finished ahead of some other people based on time.)  But for me, that sinking feeling of "Oh, crap.  I'm last..." was tough for about a minute.  It hadn't occurred to me as the first one I did was flatter and had better weather.

Let us know how it goes!!

Just have fun! Don't worry about your time or how fast or slow you are compared to other people. I always just strive to do my best--no matter where that falls.

Pat yourself on the back, seriously, when you cross that finish line.  It's an amazing feeling!
