Greek Yogurt - Frozen or Not?
I was reading the label on the frozen greek yogurt the other day at Meijer. The frozen has less protein and may have more sugar than regular. I only checked the protein level. If you want to check the way regular acts after being frozen, I would put some from one you are going to eat and freeze some and eat the rest and heck later to see if it changed.
As the previous poster said, the only frozen yogurt items I have seen have less protein and have more sugar (and therefore more calories) than a cup of regular Greek yogurt. I tried one of the Greek yogurt cups, and I hated the way it tasted. I ate part of one and pitched the rest because no one I knew wanted them.

There is a big difference. Frozen yogurt is usually high in sugar and is more like ice cream than yogurt. I like frozen yogurt better too, just like I like ice cream better than yogurt. But it is an occasional food for me, a treat, like other desserts. Most of the time, I eat plain Greek yogurt that I flavor myself so it's high in protein and low in sugar.
You can freeze regular yogurt if you want. It will not taste like ice cream or frozen yogurt, it won't be creamy like that, because it will have less fat in it and won't be churned.

I think the frozen Greek yogurt is junk. But I have taken regular Greek yogurt, frozen it into cubes and then added a touch of flax milk and a 1/4 scoop of protein powder in the blender and come up with a pretty good 'frozen Greek yogurt' dessert.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
Like the others said the frozen stuff is not very good and has a poor nutritional profile for regular consumption (personally I think its fine for a treat though). You might want to try making protein ice cream by using some of the great recipes out there like taking a good protein shake and running it through one of those automati**** cream makers.
I've mixed up plain greek yogurt with Splenda, s/f vanilla syrup & lite cool whip, stuck it in the freezer & mixed a few times until fairly frozen & was awesome! Granted, it's probably less labor intensive with one of those ice cream machines....

I bought a tiny little Hamilton Beach brand single serve cordless ice cream churner. It was literally 15.00. Using it, I can drop some refrigerated yogurt in it, churn it about 15 minutes, and it is a delicious frozen treat. Just a thought....
