Past Gastric Bypass no longer working
In 1979 I had a gastric bypass it is no longer working for me and I am looking to find someone who has had one in the past and then had a revision or something like that, and would be willing to talk to me about it. I have nothing wrong with me and I am very healthy. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. ?
Hello,
We are sorry to hear your tool is no longer working for you. Did you see your surgeon? Please be sure and post this on the Revision Forum also
In what way is it no longer working?
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
If you are eating just as much as you were before surgery, the problem isn't your bypass, it is your eating habits, and it is unlikely that a revision is going to help. I would bet that if you went back to measuring your portions you would find that everything works just as it is supposed to. Do you drink with your meals? If so, that is a huge contributor to being able to eat too much. I don't mean this to sound harsh, but this surgery is not magic... you have to do your part with making healthy choices and limiting your portions.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I did not ask for someone to tell me what I am doing wrong. I ask if it would be possible to connect with someone who has had bypass surgery. I hope you are not presuming to understand what my life is like, because if you are, you are wasting your breath. I know what the surgery is like. I have lived with it for thirty years, and I don't need you to tell me about portions and drinking during meals. I think it would behove you to think about what you are writing before you write it out****ro GIRL. Women don't lead with a sucker punch. ?
You have no idea who I am or how old I am, so please refrain from the nasty age-related personal comments. Even if you thought my response was harsh, those kind of conments make YOU look childish.

That's very presumptuous for you to say. I had VBG back in 1992 and ended up gaining all my weight back. Its very common for that type of surgery. I did try to go back to eating smaller portions, but was still hungry because my pouch had stretched. And if you think a revision surgery isn't going to work for those of us who had prior surgery (because of our "eating habits") then the surgery shouldn't work for anyone because we all had bad eating habits.
I am sorry I feel like I started this message thing out wrong. I am the one who had the gastric bypass in 1979. Thank you for your comments. That first girl was very rude. I know my eating habits are bad and that I shouldn't drink with my meals and I probably knew that before she was born but I didn't join this message thing to be told what I have done wrong. If there is any one who knows that they have done many wrong things it is me But enough about her. What is a VBG? I am assuming it is some kind of bypass. Did you or are going to have a revision? Tell me if you will. AND Thank you for your support with that other writer. ?
