Past Gastric Bypass no longer working
You should find a surgeon practicing with a Center of Excellence Certificate. They would have the latest information on WLS and a staff that can advise you with current nutrition information and possibly get counseling. Your doctor may not of given you enough information to sustain a permanent weigh loss. It is very difficult for us to make suggestions if we don't understand exactly what you need to hear on such little data from you. It seems like you need to catch up with the education of WLS options.
You have come to the right place to learn from the experience of others.
When I had my revision in 2010 I was told that they were doing things much differently then they had even 5 years before. I can't imagine how much things have changed since your surgery. The fact is, if you aren't able to lose weight with your surgery then it is no longer working. Have you seen a surgeon? There are also much more effective WLS out there then there was in 1979. Revisions are not to be taken lightly and should only be done by experienced surgeons. Whatever you do, don't be talking into a BOB (band over bypass). The lapband is the most ineffective WLS there is and it is also a guarantee of more surgery. The most effective revision would be to a DS but it is also very high maintenance. Have you been compliant with supplements and follow up labs? Those things are very important if you want to have a WLS with a lot of malabsorption.
Find an experienced revision surgeon and have a consultation to find out the state of your current surgery and what options are available to you.

I'm very sorry for what I said to ****rogirl but she came off very shallow. All I ask was to talk to someone who has gone through a bypass revision. So after I wrote back to her I found you thank you for replying. To answer your questions I have had 3 kids and tried many things after my bypass. The weight stayed off for many years and I know I did many things wrong but now I find myself back to where I was before. I know nothing about any of your acronyms - what is a DS? Does a gastric sleeve have malabsorption problems. I am not even sure what malabsorption is. When I had my surgery there was no talk of that. That doesn't mean I didn't have it. I probably did and just didn't know what it was called. I never saw my surgeon after the surgery. He never ask to see me again. I don't mean to be nieve. Back then we just didn't have follow ups I guess. Could you tell me a little bit about your surgery if that's OK.
What exactly happens with a revision? Has it been good for you? How long did your first surgery last before it stopped working for you? Who did you go to? Where is their practice?
My response was long so I sent it in a private message.
