sorta OT - ugh, tired of full liquids
Yesterday morning, I bit into a protein bar and damaged a crown on one of my front teeth. I can't get into the dentist until tomorrow so I cannot chew anything until after that. It's very painful, plus I'm afraid the crown will fall off. So far today I've had three servings of Greek yogurt and three protein shakes. I am hungry and tired of yogurt and protein shakes. Plus my mouth still hurts.

I'm so sorry and can tell ya - been there, done that! I cracked off a piece of natural tooth on a Quest bar and had to get a crown and was terrified to eat solids for quite a while.... How about cooking some veggies to mush? Or creamed spinach? At least they'd be something savory that you could just kinda gum down....

I just ate some tomato soup with shredded cheddar cheese melted in it. I feel a little better now.

If the crown is intact, try filling it with Vaseline and sticking it back in. If it falls off again, do it again. I used to be a dental assistant and have used this trick for years. It usually works to keep the cold off of it. You may not be able to chew much, but it should take care of your pain. Good luck! Oh, it feels so good to pay you back with good advice after reading yours these past 3 years!!! :)
Thanks for the tip! The crown hasn't actually fallen off yet, it's just loose and wiggly, kinda like a loose tooth. But I'm worried about it falling off. So at least now I know what to do if it does.

Be careful!! I lost a loose crown a few years ago!! Swallowed it (years before I had WLS). Hope you feel better!
PS--no I did not "search" for my crown...
He he... I would not search for it either! No way I would want it back in my mouth. I don't care what it costs for a new one, I'd pay for it!

I ended up breaking the tooth underneath and needed a bridge after that. But even if I only needed a crown, I would have paid for a crown lol. No way could I put that back in my mouth either lol....
